Stock Market Sentiment Showing Fear... / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Jack_Steiman

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleA while back, when I spoke about the need for the market to move lower based on sentiment extremes, I warned that fear would kick in hard and fast and that it wouldn't take long before the bears start to ramp up thus bringing the sentiment issue to a close. In fact, it would likely lead to having too many bears.

U.S. Stocks: Will The Bears Relinquish Control? / Stock-Markets / Elliott Wave Theory

By: EWI

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIn case you were hiding out Tiger Woods' style far away from the mainstream media during the past month, let me be the first to say: January saw an abrupt end to the U.S. stock market's record-setting winning streak. Last count, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 4% in its worst monthly loss in a year.

By: Mike_Paulenoff

This morning’s first-hour breakdown in the S&P 500 Depository Receipts (AMEX: SPY) from 107 to 106.11 was mostly recovered in the second hour. Let’s see if the recovery can continue to claw its way above 107.50, which will confirm that a new, secondary upleg is in progress that will have the potential to climb to 109.00/50.

Stocks Rally on E.U. Olive Branch For Greece / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: PaddyPowerTrader

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleUS stocks rallied Tuesday, sending the Dow Jones back above 10,000, as prospects for a bailout of Greece eased concern that deteriorating government finances will derail the global economic recovery. Coca-Cola (+3.6%) reported 4th quarter profit that met expectations. China and India saw better than expected volume growth. Caterpillar (+6.0%) and Monsanto (+3.0%) on broker upgrades. NYSE Euronext (+5.4%) after posting better 4th quarter results due to derivative trading lifting revenues and cutting costs. MetLife (+4.2%) may use more stock to fund more than half of the planned $15bn of an AIG life insurance unit. Airlines advanced after Continental Airlines (+8.6%) and Southwest Airlines (3.9%) led the six biggest US carriers to their first collective increase in monthly traffic since May 2008.

Stock Market Indices Rally on Greece Debt Rescue Hopes / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Harry_Boxer

The stock market indices had a volatile day in a very news-influenced session, particularly on debt news surrounding Greece. The indices gapped up, rallied and then rolled over hard, but held the 3-day rising trendlines, rallied sharply when the story hit that Germany was possibly going to help guarantee Greece's financial debt problems,

Stock Market Volatile Tape...Choppy Action... / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Jack_Steiman

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIt's starting to get violent as both sides are fighting for control of this market. It's about the bulls holding on to the 200-day exponential moving averages while the bears are intent on holding any rally before the bulls can take back those 20- and 50-day exponential moving averages. There is a real fight going on here and for good reason. If the bears can take out the 200-day exponential moving averages on all the major index charts, they can declare victory as they will have removed all critical support with the 20's/50's and 200's all gone.

FEAR DAVOS 2010, Into The Bomb Shelter / Stock-Markets / Credit Crisis 2010

By: Darryl_R_Schoon

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticlePredators and parasites recently gathered in Davos to discuss the mounting problems of their prey. All present agreed the problem needed urgent attention.

Historian David Hackett Fisher describes this passing era as the period of Victorian Equilibrium. England’s Victorian Equilibrium, however, was built on banker’s credit, a foundation of sand; and like the story of Cinderella where the carriage turns into a pumpkin at midnight, the banker’s credit has now turned into defaulting debt and the fairy-tale world it built is collapsing.

Stock Market Former Support is Now Resistance / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Graham_Summers

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleYesterday I explained why the market began to rally sharply Friday afternoon. Today we’re looking at where the market is from a technical perspective. Be forewarned, if you’re a bull, what follows isn’t pretty.

For starters, the first thing we need to keep prominent in our thinking is that the market rally from March 2009-January 2010 was largely a technically driven rally fueled by easy money from the world’s Central Banks: Governments around the engaged in an unprecedented amount of stimulus/ bailouts and much of this money found its way into the financial markets.

Stock Market Funny Action Friday: What Happened? / Stock-Markets / Market Manipulation

By: Graham_Summers

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleMany investors have written in asking me what happened on Friday. For those of you who weren’t watching the tape, stocks entered a free fall around 1PM Eastern Time. It looked like we were going to get another massive drop similar to the one that occurred at Thursday’s open.

However, suddenly at 2PM stocks began to stage a sharp reversal with virtually every major US index ramping over 1% in a matter of minutes. Having collapsed for days, stocks actually managed to close Friday at a gain.

Stocks and Gold Slice Through Support / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: Graham_Summers

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe S&P 500 sliced through its January lows yesterday, killing any notion that this latest drop is just a brief dip with which to buy. The next lines of support are the November low (1,040) and then the October low (1,020).

Stock Market Bounce No Follow Through... / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Jack_Steiman

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAnd that's what everyone was expecting after that wonderful hammer on all the critical index charts in the last hour on Friday. The S&P 500 touched the 200-day exponential moving average at 1046 (1044 print) and then burst higher. It was the first test in an extremely long time and after losing the 20- and 50-day exponential moving averages, one would think that whichever index got down to the 200-day exponential moving average first would give the market a quick blast higher and that's what happened.
