Stock Market Bears Still In Control / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
The market spoke again and really stuck it to the bulls this week just gone, the bleed this week was a tough read I suspect for most, although we found it easy as it simply told us its intentions early enough to get us back into bear mode.
From last week's article I was 60-40 in favor of the bullish idea, and we were expecting a gap down on Monday towards the 1200-1190ES area, but we wanted to see a reaction. If you recall we wanted a reaction in those safety markets such as USD/CAD, ZB and DX etc. you never saw that.

Stock Market End of Year Trading Strategies, Tax Loss Selling, Santa Claus Rally and January Effect / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
Larry D. Spears writes: Before yesterday's Thanksgiving leftovers even got cold many U.S. consumers ventured out to catch the best Black Friday deals, already worried about how much this holiday shopping season will cost them.
But instead of fretting over how much you'll spend this year, now's the time to focus on how much more you can earn.

Stock Market Breaks Support, Heading Lower / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
When I last sent out an article for public consumption we were talking about Greece and the potential for a wide spread problem in Europe. The G-20 was about to meet and there was wild anticipation that a EU “solution” to the sovereign debt crisis was finally at hand. By now we know that Europe has yet to do anything to alleviate the situation. In the US we learned two days ago that the “Super Committee” was a super bust. They weren’t able to agree on anything so a series of automatic cuts, to be implemented two years down the road, totaling US $1 trillion will take place. That’s a far cry from the US $3.7 trillion that they were aiming for and is typical of the political leadership on both sides of the pond.

Stock Market Making Lower Lows / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
There are a few global stock market indices that have broken below the recent early October fall lows. This is not a good sign. The most important of these is Japan, which I wrote about a few days ago. Here is a 6 month daily candlestick chart of the $NIKK Japanese stock market index thru today's close:

How to Trade Using Stock Market Sentiment and the Holiday Season / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
The months of November and December are the second strongest back to back months for the financial markets. Many traders and investors use this time of the year to reap big gains as they close the year out. The fact that most traders and investors are sitting in cash and underweight stocks in their portfolio’s leaves me to believe a Santa Clause rally is just around the corner. Reason being is everyone has cash on hand to buy stocks because they are selling their positions in this pullback we are in right now. I know traders well enough, they will buy back into the market trying to catch the holiday rally in the coming weeks.

Stock Market Set to Start the Strongest Part of the Current Decline / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
-- The VIX came to rest today at the bottom trendline of the diamond formation, above intermediate-term trend support at 31.63. It remains on a buy signal and may be poised for a breakout above the top of the diamond formation. This is a bullish reversal formation that has the potential 13% failure rate and an average target of approximately 50.00 in the VIX.

Will Stock Market Turn Positive For Thanksgiving Holiday? / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
SPX back-tested the bottom trendline of the Broadening Wedge and Cycle bottom Resistance at 1200.64. There are two potential paths for the SPX from here. The first pattern would recognize the top of wave ii at 1277.55. That suggests a further drop to 1145, fulfilling the minimum target for the upward-slanting Head & Shoulders neckline before a bounce back to Cycle bottom resistance, or higher. I favor that pattern, although it has some flaws.

Super Dud Committee... Not Really.... / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
Having expectations when you look at where we're at fundamentally makes little to no sense whatsoever. What was the super committee really going to be able to come up with when you break it down? We have the entire euro zone ready to go under, and many brilliant minds have been unable to come with any good solution. Why would they be able to? The structural problems are so deep that sometimes you have to throw your hands up in the air and say I give up. There truly is nothing we can do. We want to help, but maybe helping would only create deeper problems in the long-term, and that's something we all have to watch closely. Hopefully, there will be no more sacrificing the moment to get some relief for long-term destruction. Everyone seems to be more aware of that, but let's hope that they don't lose sight of it all when things get worse.

Stock Market Outlook Still Favors Bearish Outcomes / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
Numerous problems are facing investors:
- The flawed structure of the Eurozone is coming back to haunt global leaders. The markets want the European Central Bank (ECB) to print money, but the golden rule applies: “He who has the gold makes the rules.” In Europe, Germany “has the gold”. Germany has seen what money printing can do and thus, is vehemently opposed to cranking up the printing presses.

Stock Market Still Consolidating? / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
SPX: Very Long-term trend - The very-long-term cycles are down and, if they make their lows when expected, there will be another steep and prolonged decline (which appears to have already started) into 2014.
SPX: Intermediate trend - The rally from 1075 is most likely expanding its consolidation. It's probably too early to start another major leg down.

Stock Market Chart Patterns Beauty Of Symmetry / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
There are no other words to describe the symmetry between these two chart patterns than simply beautiful.
I purposely left the scale and dates off the charts as to not distract your eyes. It is simply too powerful to ignore yet that is what many have done, self included over the past two weeks as the 200MA blurred our vision. A somewhat meaningless number took our eyes off the pattern playing out before us.

Stock Market Bull or Bear, This Correction Should Tell / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
For the third week in a row the market had a turnaround tuesday event. Three weeks ago it hit the SPX 1215 low. Two weeks ago the SPX 1278 high. And, this tuesday the high for the week at SPX 1264. Economic reports for the week were again biased to the upside. On the downtick: the CPI/PPI, retail sales, business inventories, housing starts and the Philly FED. On the uptick: the NY FED, industrial production, capacity utilization, the NAHB housing index, building permits, leading indicators, the monetary base, the M1-multiplier, the WLEI, and weekly jobless claims improved. For the week the SPX/DOW were -3.35%, and the NDX/NAZ were -4.15%. Asian markets lost 3.0%, European markets lost 2.9%, and the DJ World index lost 3.9%. Next week’s holiday shortened economic highlights are Q3 GDP, PCE prices and the FOMC minutes.

Stock Market Rally, It's a Trap / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
So far, the high for the year occurred on May 2nd at 12,876 on the Industrials and on July 7th at 5,627.85 on the Transports. In turn, this left an upside non-confirmation in place and on August 4th both the Industrials and the Transports closed below their previous secondary low points. This was the first time since the March 2009 low that this has occurred. In doing so the primary trend turned bearish in accordance with Dow theory.

Stock Market, I Remain Bearish / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
The hourly chart of the NDX looks unbelievably bearish. There is no hourly support whatsoever. As I had mentioned in prior e-mails, the Broadening Wedge in the Head and Shoulders pattern compel me to believe the crash is imminent. The market held up during options expiration, but that does not mean that we can't have a serious gap down Monday morning.

Things Getting Ugly for Stock Market Bulls / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
SPX has clearly emerged out of its Diamond pattern formation and, technically speaking, has nothing but air to the bottom of the charts. This is a perfect crash set up. Since the SPX reentered its original Broadening Wedge formation, it may still be under the influence of that Broadening Wedge, which has a target below 1000. In fact, there is some argument that we are now entering the crash phase of the initial Broadening Wedge.

A Stock Market Trifecta of Sell Signals / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
The NDX has now crossed and back-tested the lower trendline of its Broadening Top at 2312.00 and the intermediated-term trend support at 2306.00. This gives the NDX a confirmed sell signal. The next probable support is the neckline at 2292.00, which happens to correspond with hourly cycle bottom support. Once these are all crossed, we will have a trifecta (or possibly a “fourfecta”) of sell signals. This would put the Head & Shoulders target in play.

Stock Market Next Leg Down / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2011
Global markets appear to have completed their consolidation and now appear set for the next leg down.
After several weeks of stalling, today's movement on the broad-based NYSE Composite suggests that the index is expected to decline (Chart 1) over the next few days. Price support has been at 7350-7400. That level should be broken by early next week.
