Going Nowhere Stock Market Continues On... / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Jack_Steiman

I will say it over and over. There's nothing bullish going on. There's nothing bearish going on. What there is is a market that wants to work off incredibly overbought conditions for a while to come so it can gain momentum to move higher once again. When you're overbought on the daily oscillators for months straight, months are going to be spent to not being overbought on those oscillators. It's as simple as that folks. We are not going to get overbought again just like that.

Stock Market Turning Points: Has Wall Street Ever Warned You in Time? / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIn the play "The Secret to Freedom," Pulitzer prize writer Archibald MacLeish had a character say this:

The only thing about a man that is a man is his mind. Everything else you can find in a pig or a horse.

MacLeish knew how to state the truth plainly.

Stock Market Same Old... / sitenews / Stock Markets 2012

By: Jack_Steiman

The news gets worse and worse out there as many are now thinking the market is doomed. I am receiving many emails from other letter writers, and most of them are quite bearish, predicting a slaughter in this market. Maybe that will be true, so thanks to those of you sending in those notes. I enjoy reading them as the writers have fallen into an emotional state. When a market struggles for a while, and there's more to come folks, the masses get bearish quite easily. That's totally understandable. I go back to my favorite way of thinking about the market. Greed is easy. Fear is tougher than tough.

Stock Market April Fears Ahead of Fed, Spain and China / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Ashraf_Laidi

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleForced Liquidation or Improved Sentiment?

Recent intermittent bounces in EURUSD in the face of surging Eurozone spreads are said to be reflecting possible liquidation by European banks unloading US assets to relieve an ensuing shortage of US dollars. Other explanations were attributed to the IMF buying Irish and Portuguese bailout tranches during the late European trading hours, taking advantage of cheaper levels (lowest since Feb 15). But as long as traders find no confidence in battling the coordinated efforts of asset-buying central banks and the Fed produces no new dissenters to the ultra low rates til 2014 mantra, risk currencies may be assured to find support.

Stock Market Primary Trend is Up / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Puru_Saxena

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe world’s most influential central bank wants to inflate American asset prices; thus it is conceivable that the ongoing rally on Wall Street will continue for several months.  Look.  The Federal Reserve has made it clear that it will keep rates on hold until at least December 2014 and it is also buying US Treasuries across the entire yield curve. Put simply, Mr. Bernanke is suppressing interest rates and he is forcing investors to search for yield.

Apple, Nasdaq Pressure Stock Market / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Harry_Boxer

The stock market started the week off on a very soar note, particularly on the Nasdaq 100, as Apple Inc. (AAPL) pressured stocks all day and dropped a whopping 25.10 to under 600 at 580.13, just 2 points off its low and way off its high. The bottom line is that weakness in Apple and some of the other market generals, including Intel Corporation (INTC), put a lot of pressure on the NDX.

The day started out with a sharp move up quickly, followed by a hard rollover into the session lows on the NDX at 2661. The S&P 500 at that point was under 1366. They bounced, pulled back, and then bounced again to nominal new highs on Nasdaq 100, and even more so on the S&P 500, reaching 1376 from 1365, or around 11 points. In the last couple hours, though, they drifted lower in an orderly fashion, and closed near the afternoon lows on both indices, sliding substantially on the Nasdaq 100.

Stock Market Beta Be Gone.... / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Jack_Steiman

There are many different ways for the big money to get rid of overbought sentiment. Take the market down one sector at a time, or just attack all the high beta stocks from all over the market place and knock them down at the same time. Priceline.com (PCLN), Apple Inc. (AAPL), and Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) just to name a few. The list is very, very large, indeed, and that's what we saw today. The Dow stocks were holding up very well as the market participants ran to safety, with those high dividend lower beta stocks. Sometimes you can run and hide and sometimes you can't. In a bull market, if you're lucky enough to be positioned in the right place, you can get away with the selling. If you're in the wrong place, however, it's lights out. If you were in beta today, it was a lights-out day, and not a fun day at all.

Stock Market Lull Before the Storm? / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Mike_Paulenoff

From a big picture perspective, let's notice that both the upper and lower Bollinger Band lines are negatively sloped now, as is the 20-day moving average. This suggests strongly that the e-mini S&P 500 is in the grasp of a period of incomplete negative price action (a corrective period) that should retest and break below the April 10 low at 1352.50, on the way to a test of more important medium term support at 1338-1334.

More Impetus For Summer Stock Market Correction! / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Sy_Harding

Another week of economic reports adds to the likelihood of a summer correction in the stock market again this year, and even to the possibility that it has already begun.

After four or five months of surprisingly strong economic reports that fueled the rally off the October low, it looks like the U.S. economic recovery has reached another slippery slope that has it sliding backward again.

Stock Markets have Entered a Very Dangerous Environment / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Graham_Summers

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe markets have entered a very dangerous environment in which even the usual market props (Fed Presidents calling for more easing) are being overridden by market concerns for Europe.

To whit, last week, not one, but two Fed Presidents (Yellen and Dudley), called for more easing/ QE. On the very same day (April 11), the ECB issued a similar statement regarding the potential for more easing.

Global Stock Markets Down Trend Continues / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Tony_Caldaro

Traders followed through with the last friday’s abbreviated holiday selloff, as the market gapped down 13 points from last thursday’s close on monday. Near the close on tuesday the market was down 42 points on the week. But a mid-week rally helped. For the week the SPX/DOW were -1.8%, and the NDX/NAZ were -2.3%. This was the largest weekly decline since mid-December. Asian markets dipped 0.2%, but European markets dropped 3.5%. On the economic front, reports ended the week balanced. On the uptick: wholesale inventories, export/import prices, the WLEI, and the trade deficit improved. On the downtick: the CPI/PPI, consumer sentiment, and both the budget deficit and weekly jobless claims rose. Next week we get a look at retail sales, housing, industrial production and the leading indicators.

Minefields That Can Blow-Up Global Stock Markets in 2012 / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Gary_Dorsch

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleGerald Loeb was most of the most respected analysts on Wall Street, during the Great Depression years and through the following decades. He wrote an epic book, titled "The Battle for Investment Survival," last published in 1965. Many of his pearls of wisdom, concerning the financial markets and rules of investing, have withstood the test of time. Yet one has to wonder though, if Loeb's long held truths about the markets would stand up to the erratic behavior of today's world of high frequency trading (HFT). There is also the heavy hand of the world's top central banks that are actively manipulating and distorting market values, and in turn, upbraiding many of the traditional rules of the game of investing.

What Institutional Investors Are Doing May Surprise You ... / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Marty_Chenard

When you look at an old fashion pendulum clock you know that it swings from one extreme to the next. Each time it reaches an extreme it moves back down to normality (the bottom center of the swing) and then overshoots it until the next extreme.

The pendulum extremes are like being above or below the upper and lower Bollinger Band levels. The Center line in middle of a Bollinger Band is like the normality level over time.

Stock Market Pause For Now But We'll Go Lower.... / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2012

By: Jack_Steiman

Today we got a break in the action to the down side as the market went up for most of the day near, or above, triple digits on the Dow. We got extremely oversold on the short-term 60-minute charts, and were due for a bounce. RSI's got into the 20's, thus, today's bounce was nothing to be surprised about. The real question is was today's move up the start of something bigger for the short-term. I think the answer is clearly no.
