Just Who’s Buying This Stock Market Rally? / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Graham_Summers

Roughly 30% of US household wealth was destroyed by the collapse in housing and the 2008 Crash. Currently it stands at about $15 trillion, down % from $22 trillion at the 2007 peak. For simplicity’s sake, we’ll call this “assets.”

Massive Mystery Options Play Hints at a Bearish Stock Market End to 2009 / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleKeith Fitz-Gerald writes: With the Standard & Poor's 500 Index up 47% from the lows it reached in March, many investors are feeling intense relief.

But with one or more institutional traders making bets that suggest a bearish end to 2009, the question becomes: How do you read this information and what do you do about it?

Betting Against Leveraged Stock Market Traders / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Guy_Lerner

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleBy now you should know that one of my favorite aspects of the Rydex data is the amount of assets in the bullish and leveraged funds versus the amount of assets in the leveraged and bearish funds. Not only do we get to see what direction these market timers think the market will go, but we also get to see how much conviction (i.e., leverage) they have in their beliefs. See figure 1 a daily graph of the S&P500 (symbol: $INX) with the Rydex leveraged bulls (green line) versus the leveraged bears (red line) in the lower panel. Typically, we want to bet against the Rydex market timer even though they only represent a small sample of the overall market.

Rally in SPY SDS Short ETF / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Purely from a pattern perspective, the ProShares UltraShort SPY (NYSE: SDS) pattern off of Friday’s low at 44.35 to this morning’s high at 45.59 exhibits bullish form, which if accurate warns us to expect more upside in the upcoming hours.

Stock Market Expectations For a Pull Back / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Angelo_Campione

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleGeneral Commentary: The system remains on a Neutral signal.

Well, the market keeps holding up and I'm sounding like a broken record by saying that we're due for a pull back. We didn't get the "musical chairs" effect I spoke about last week and it seems that the market is taunting the bears by reversing higher the moment we get a small dip.

Watch for the Stock Market Pullback / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Peter_Navarro

The US stock market continues in a decisively bullish uptrend on the basis of an improving economy. The consensus -- often a dangerous thing but probably right this time -- is that the economy has hit bottom; and numerous indicators suggest that it is on an upward swing.

Stock Market Continues On Breakout.. Approaching 70 Week Moving Averages / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Jack_Steiman

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWe have moved up over the past five months quite powerfully. There have been many critical levels of resistance along the way which have been headaches initially but in time have all been taken out by the bulls, putting those levels in their rear view mirror. 956 on the S&P 500 was the last big one that seemed as if it just couldn't happen. I mean come on, we've come so far so quickly, that level will fail for sure. Not to be the case. That too went away. Now we see two levels that are seemingly just too tough as well. One is the multi down trend line on the Nasday at 2015.

S&P 500 Stock Market Trends Analysis for August 2009 / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Hans_Wagner

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWhen analyzing monthly stock market trends, I use the S&P 500 charts to identify important trend lines. Trend following is a proven strategy to beat the market and grow your stock portfolio. Technical analysis provides the tools to analyze and identify trends in the stock market. Since the S&P 500 chart is the one used by professional traders for their analysis, it is important to understand how it is performing.

Main Resistance Level Still Holds for S&P 500 Stocks Index / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Donald_W_Dony

The main resistance level of about 1000 continues to hold for the S&P 500. This line is the barrier that has held the broad-based index since October 2008. As the new 4-month trading cycle began in early July, time is slowly running out for any additional advance. The mid-point of the cycle is in late August. This means that downward pressure can be expected to build in the second half of the cycle which is September and October.

Stock Market On Breakout... Possible Back Test Coming... / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Jack_Steiman

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleMarket Overview - For weeks, and for that matter months, we saw the market race off the bottom at SP 500 666. Day after day and week after week we saw the market move higher, taking out important level after important level of resistance. Each one of those resistance levels bought about pullbacks that seemed to test the grit of every bull on Wall Street. We'd fail at various resistance levels once and then twice and sometimes three or more times.

Stock Markets Remain Strong / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Frederic_Simons

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleStock markets have experienced a very short consolidation phase over the last two days, without giving back much ground. Overnight, the Nasdaq future has even moved to new highs. What we have written in our last comments to the stock market remains true, as we are still expecting stocks to move higher in the next days and perhaps weeks to come:

By: Graham_Summers

Economic Crisis Not Over but Stock Market Rally Can Last A Few More Quarters / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Money_and_Markets

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleClaus Vogt writes: You might be familiar with this common example of probability theory: The exercise of drawing colored marbles from a container.

Half of the marbles are white, the other half are black. You remove one marble, write down the color, and put the marble back in the container. Then repeat the process, again and again.
