Garmin Tek Stock and the Next Generation of GPS About to Blast Off / Companies / Tech Stocks

On May 14, the space shuttle Atlantis blasted off for its 32nd and last mission. The Atlantis has flown to the Mir space station seven times and the International Space Station 11 times.
The Atlantis shuttle has ventured into space and returned with troves of scientific information and I still get goose bumps when I watch a shuttle launch. It is with a twinge of sadness to know that the Endeavour is scheduled to fly the last mission of the space shuttle program in November.

I believe we’re at the front end of a period of multi-year economic weakness. While the Federal government will continue to attempt to prop up the economy through simulus and quantitative easing efforts, I believe in the end, that these efforts will fail. The credit destruction will continue to out-run the fiscal blitz by our leadership. As such, I’m looking to position myself for a prolonged recession/depression. This means significant cash holdings, sound recession-resistent stocks with dividends, and even some precious metals holdings (to hedge against the possibility of monetary stimulus going too far).

When a major mainstream media like Forbes compares BP with Goldman Sachs and recommends investors to buy Goldman stocks, you know the world is in total moral hazard and deserved to be doomed as Marc Faber has always been saying.
Since Forbes is a financial publication, I will refute based on the investment thesis first. Granted both stocks are high risk plays right now, but I'd venture to say compared to Goldman, BP is obviously oversold and a victim of media hype and Whitehouse populist approach.

Looking at the hourly chart on Ford (F) since April 23, we can make the case technically that the recent spike lows at 10.14 and 10.40 represent a near-term double-bottom. This morning Ford broke above key resistance at 11.35/45 and continued higher, which has confirmed the near-term, base-like pattern, and which triggered upside projections into the 12.20/40 area next.

Don Miller writes: As its engineers struggle to plug an underwater oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, the total cost of the spill to BP PLC (NYSE ADR: BP) continues to mount, and might even threaten the financial stability of the company.
The total cost to BP to date has reached about $760 million, or $22 million a day, compared with an initial estimate of $6 million a day last month, the London- based oil company said. BP's net income in 2009 was $16.6 billion, or $45.4 million a day, in that time, according to separate data compiled by Bloomberg.
