Garmin Tek Stock and the Next Generation of GPS About to Blast Off / Companies / Tech Stocks

By: Tony_Sagami

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleOn May 14, the space shuttle Atlantis blasted off for its 32nd and last mission. The Atlantis has flown to the Mir space station seven times and the International Space Station 11 times.

The Atlantis shuttle has ventured into space and returned with troves of scientific information and I still get goose bumps when I watch a shuttle launch. It is with a twinge of sadness to know that the Endeavour is scheduled to fly the last mission of the space shuttle program in November.

Wal-Mart, Next Decade’s Best Performer? / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Kevin_Duffey

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleI believe we’re at the front end of a period of multi-year economic weakness.  While the Federal government will continue to attempt to prop up the economy through simulus and quantitative easing efforts, I believe in the end, that these efforts will fail.  The credit destruction will continue to out-run the fiscal blitz by our leadership.  As such, I’m looking to position myself for a prolonged recession/depression.  This means significant cash holdings, sound recession-resistent stocks with dividends, and even some precious metals holdings (to hedge against the possibility of monetary stimulus going too far).

Homebuilding Stocks Are in for a Nasty Surprise / Companies / Housing Stocks

By: DailyWealth

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleTom Dyson writes: "You can't believe how screwed up things are down here... "

This weekend, I met up with a real estate expert, M, from South Florida. M specializes in REO. REO stands for "Real Estate Owned." Banks lend money to homeowners. Sometimes homeowners don't make their interest payments. The bank kicks the owner out and seizes the property. In the industry, they call this repossessed, bank-owned property "REO." The government is the nation's biggest holder of REO. M says the government owns 80% of the properties he deals with.

Proof Media in Hopeless Moral Hazard When Forbes Compares BP With Goldman / Companies / Oil Companies

By: Static_Chaos

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleWhen a major mainstream media like Forbes compares BP with Goldman Sachs and recommends investors to buy Goldman stocks, you know the world is in total moral hazard and deserved to be doomed as Marc Faber has always been saying.

Since Forbes is a financial publication, I will refute based on the investment thesis first.  Granted both stocks are high risk plays right now, but I'd venture to say compared to Goldman, BP is obviously oversold and a victim of media hype and Whitehouse populist approach.

BP Oil Spill Secrets Revealed / Companies / Oil Companies

By: Global_Research

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleDaniela Perdomo writes: How the owner of the exploded oil rig has made $270 million off the disaster, and nine other shocking, depressing facts about the oil spill.

It's been 37 days since BP's offshore oil rig, Deepwater Horizon, exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. Since then, crude oil has been hemorrhaging into ocean waters and wreaking unknown havoc on our ecosystem -- unknown because there is no accurate estimate of how many barrels of oil are contaminating the Gulf.

By: Mike_Paulenoff

All of the action in American Tower Corp. (NYSE: AMT) from the January 2010 high at 44.38 into this week's low at 38.09 has the right look of a completed major correction, which if accurate means that AMT also has just initiated a new upleg in its larger bull trend off of the November 2008 low at 19.35.

Apple Overtakes Microsoft, Can Apple be a Gentle Giant? / Companies / Tech Stocks

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleJason Simpkins writes: Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) yesterday (Thursday) supplanted Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) as the largest technology company in the United States. Apple now trails only Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) in size, but that size will only make the company a bigger target if it fails to use its newfound market position prudently.

Upside Projections for Ford (F) / Companies / Company Chart Analysis

By: Mike_Paulenoff

Looking at the hourly chart on Ford (F) since April 23, we can make the case technically that the recent spike lows at 10.14 and 10.40 represent a near-term double-bottom. This morning Ford broke above key resistance at 11.35/45 and continued higher, which has confirmed the near-term, base-like pattern, and which triggered upside projections into the 12.20/40 area next.

Gulf Oil Spill Disaster Could Cost BP $10 Billion / Companies / Oil Companies

By: Money_Morning

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleDon Miller writes: As its engineers struggle to plug an underwater oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, the total cost of the spill to BP PLC (NYSE ADR: BP) continues to mount, and might even threaten the financial stability of the company.

The total cost to BP to date has reached about $760 million, or $22 million a day, compared with an initial estimate of $6 million a day last month, the London- based oil company said. BP's net income in 2009 was $16.6 billion, or $45.4 million a day, in that time, according to separate data compiled by Bloomberg.

Gulf Oil Spill Criminal Charges Could Cut BP’s Share Price in Half / Companies / Oil Companies

By: Justice_Litle

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleFallout from the BP oil spill is spreading. And far from being "cheap" as some pundits suggest, BP's share price could implode if criminal charges are filed.

It's not looking good for British Petroleum... or the Gulf of Mexico. In fact it's looking like an outright disaster, about as bad as we feared.

British Petroleum (BP) Stock Price Valuation Analysis / Companies / Oil Companies

By: Mike_Stathis

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleA couple of weeks ago, I released a report discussing how I was able to get in on Merck for big gains, while virtually everyone else left the company for dead after the Vioxx scandal played out. http://www.avaresearch.com/article_details-527.html

I used that example to give readers an idea what they need to do to determine whether a stock should be bought after a catastrophe, and when to buy it (I show several other examples in The Wall Street Investment Bible). Finally, the article illustrates that you need to have an exit strategy in advance. As I mentioned, it was a prelude to a report I would be writing for BP.
