3 Dividend Paying Stocks to Ride the New Housing Boom / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
Dear Reader,
The Cleveland Browns are playing in the postseason for the first time since 2002. But this almost didn't happen because of a COVID-19 outbreak at their training facility.
The Browns didn't miss a moment of practice time. Rather than hit the field, players and coaches huddled over Zoom (ZM). And they went on to win their matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers that made this 17-years-in-the-making victory possible.
Even if the Browns don't make it to the Super Bowl on February 7, their MVP moves will go down in history as a sign of these unusual times.

Profit Like a Real Estate Mogul Without Buying Property / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
William Patalon III writes: With a 37% gain in The Blackstone Group LP (NYSE: BX) since late July, we've done really well with our targeted investment in real estate.
And with very quick gains of 9% in BRF SA (NYSE ADR: BRFS), 5.2% in South American agricultural play Adecoagro SA (NYSE: AGRO) and 1.6% in high-tech agribusiness player Neogen Corp. (Nasdaq: NEOG), we're doing well with our plays on (pockets of) accelerating U.S. inflation.

Three U.S. Homebuilders to Short During $336-Billion Housing Gap / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
John Paul Whitefoot writes: I hate to harp on the U.S. housing market so much, but it is a major indicator of the health of the U.S. economy. Following previous recessions, investment in the U.S. housing market increased early on and helped drive the recovery. In fact, the U.S. housing market was a major factor that helped lift the U.S. economy out of past recessions in 1981, 1990, and 2001. But it isn’t happening this time around.

The average rate for the 30-year fixed rate mortgage in 2007 prior to the subprime meltdown was 6.34%, according to data from Freddie Mac. What Homebuilding Stocks Trying to Tell Us After 20% Plunge? / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
Michael Lombardi writes:
The U.S. housing market is “hot;” home prices are going up and up. At least that’s what the mainstream’s saying.
The S&P Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Home Price Index, considered a key indicator of the U.S housing market, increased to 159.18 in July. In June, it stood at 158.20. Since the beginning of the year, the index of home prices in 20 major cities in the U.S. economy has increased by roughly 7.5%. Time for Income-Starved Investors to Reconsider REITs? / Companies / Housing Stocks
John Paul Whitefoot writes: After a serious pullback in May, is it time for income-starved investors to reconsider real estate investment trusts (REITs)? Or will America’s favorite sugar daddy, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, tease investors with ongoing threats of tapering?
The North American REIT bull market was stopped dead in its tracks on May 22, after Bernanke hinted the central bank might begin tapering its massive $85.0-billion-per-month government bond-buying program.

Sudden 25% Crash in Homebuilder Stock Prices / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
Michael Lombardi writes:
Homebuilder stocks are heading into dangerous territory and investors need to take note—even if they don’t own these stocks—because the move to the downside for this barometer of activity in the U.S. housing market is significant.
The most important factor that sets the fate of the homebuilder stocks is the housing market. If the housing market has growth potential ahead, then you can bet on homebuilder stocks to provide a stunning performance to the upside. If it’s the opposite scenario, with the housing market looking shaky, then homebuilder stocks usually tank. In other words, homebuilder stocks are very fickle, but they are also a great indicator of future activity in the housing market.

Panic in the Bond Market, Did Bernanke Just Kill the Homebuilders? / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
Zach Scheidt writes: Stock prices for major U.S. homebuilders are under pressure as investors worry about higher interest rates. If you’re invested in these stocks, you should worry, too.
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke indicated recently that the Fed will soon begin to reduce its $85 billion-a-month bond purchases, and end them all together by the middle of next year. The news sent shivers through the bond market, driving prices lower and pushing interest rates higher.

U.S. Housing Market Stocks Could Be Heading for a Crash / Companies / Housing Stocks
Sasha Cekerevac writes: Is the housing market moving up too fast? As strange as that sounds, considering the crash in the housing market a few years ago, there is a very real possibility that people are beginning to aggressively speculate once again in the housing market.
That flurry of speculators out for quick cash is partially what led to the boom in the housing market last decade. Many people considered the housing market as a means to get rich, and it was fuelled by very low interest rates. That escalation of buying and selling resulted in prices for the housing market far higher than it could sustain. And to the inevitable crash.

Why Homebuilder Stocks are Suddenly Plunging / Companies / Housing Stocks
Gary Gately writes: Homebuilder stocks had soared in 2012 in the early stages of the housing recovery, but have since leveled off and had perhaps peaked earlier this year.
Then Thursday, major homebuilder stocks plunged amid fears of rising mortgage rates.

The Trend In U.S. Housing Is Up... And Taking Paint With It / Companies / Housing Stocks
Everywhere we look, we see more confirmation that Steve was "right on" with his bullish housing call from two years ago...
Over the past year, we've pointed to uptrends in Home Depot, homebuilder stocks, and "fixture" suppliers as evidence the housing market is improving. These home-specific stocks are among the biggest stock-market winners of the past few years.

U.S. Homebuilder Stocks Will Soar / Companies / Housing Stocks
Alexander Green writes: During the housing bubble a few years ago, I editorialized repeatedly [Alex nailed it in 2006] that the whole affair was likely to end badly for speculators, mortgage companies and – not least of all – homebuilders.
It wasn’t just a lucky call.

An Alternative Way to Profit from Higher House Prices / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
Sasha Cekerevac writes: With the recent data over the past few months showing home prices continuing to rise, many investors might believe they’ve missed the boat. The homebuilder stocks have seen a substantial increase in corporate earnings, resulting from higher home prices and elevated production levels; this has led to a massive increase in their share prices.
The market is a forward-looking mechanism. Investors predicted the increase in home prices that we are now witnessing and the resulting rise in corporate earnings in these homebuilder stocks.

Why U.S. Housing Market Stocks “For Sale” Sign Is Gone / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
George Leong writes: There were extremely difficult times for homeowners following the subprime mortgage implosion that helped to drag down the global economy in 2008. I recall at that time how easy it was to get a mortgage without even having to provide an income or work history to the lenders. When an entry level worker at McDonalds Corporation (NYSE/MCD) could get a mortgage with no questions asked, you had to wonder how long it would be before a housing bubble would surface.

Two Strong Companies in a Dead U.S. Housing Market / Companies / Housing Stocks
I have been examining real estate investments in several different forms since early 2009, when I was one of the first on CNBC to begin recommending it, albeit cautiously.
Back then, I was recommending the purchase of XHB, a housing ETF that was trading for about $9, as a diversified proxy for an actual investment in real estate.

U.S. Housing Market and Sector Stocks at Significant Crossroads / Housing-Market / Housing Stocks
In 2005 I used cyclical analysis to identify the top in housing. That topping process was covered in a series of articles posted here in 2005 and into 2006, as the topping process matured and then eventually became obvious to all. Cyclically, housing is now at another important crossroads.

Expected Upside Pivot for Real Estate ProShares SRS / Companies / Housing Stocks
My overall work on the UltraShort Real Estate ProShares (NYSE: SRS) indicates that the upmove from the Jun 21 low at 24.07 to the Jul 6 high at 32.20 completed the initial upleg of a larger, intermediate-term advance. If accurate this means that from in and around the 27.50/00 area, the SRS will pivot to the upside into a new upleg that projects into the 34.50-35.00 target zone.

Eye on UltraShort Real Estate ProShares SRS / Companies / Housing Stocks
I am looking to re-enter a long model portfolio position in the UltraShort Real Estate ProShares (NYSE: SRS) into weakness, if we get any. Should such a scenario unfold, then the SRS should pull back into the 28.50/00 area in a shallow correction, or into the 27.00 area in a deep correction.
