Going After Goldman: A Crackdown on Financial Crime or a Kabuki Play Maneuvre to Avoid Bringing Criminal Charges / Companies / Credit Crisis 2010
Fox Business News was engrossed in interviewing a blonder than thou reality TV bimbo when the news that the Securities And Exchange Commission was filing fraud charges against Goldman Sachs broke on Friday afternoon.
The breaking news bulletins were already flying through cyberspace before the Fox Means Business network got around to moving from a snickering interview with a starlet confessing to commodifying and monetizing her appeal to the biggest story in months on the Street beat. Corporate fraud allegations seem to make free market boosters nervous.

Ford and Toyota, A Tale of Two Car Companies / Companies / Sector Analysis
It’s spring time and we’re thinking about maybe getting a new car. That and the recent problems at Toyota, plus the strong sales at Ford, and the not to distant bankruptcy of GM and Chrysler, got us wondering how the car company stocks are doing — not that we are hot to own car company stocks (although we are hot to own a new car).

The End Game for the Goldman Sachs (GS) "Crisis" / Companies / Banking Stocks
If you are new to the market and think today was some sort of game changer... please don't worry. Malfeasance is now the root of the US casino, we go through one of these episodes every 3-5 years and come back stronger and more malfeasant! (I made that word up) That said, days like today are for enjoyment since they break up the normal - any day Goldman stock falls and Cramer gets exposed by a man never to see the CNBC light of day ever again is a day to cherish. But it changes nothing.

Ford Hurdles Key Resistance Level / Companies / Company Chart Analysis
Today's strength in Ford (F) has hurdled key near-term resistance at 12.95, which triggered additional buying (short covering too?) that has propelled the stock to an intraday high at 13.30 so far. To the extent that F can hold and extend its early gains, my next immediate target is 13.45/55.

iPad Proves It’s Not What Apple Sells, It’s How Apple Sells It / Companies / Corporate News
Kerri Shannon writes: Apple Inc.'s (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPad has lived up to the hype, garnering rave reviews and meeting sales expectations. That success is particularly impressive because previous attempts by other companies to launch similar products were met with abject failure.

New UpMove for Halliburton / Companies / Company Chart Analysis
Within the larger Jan-Apr coil pattern that we discussed yesterday in Halliburton (HAL), let's have a look at the hourly chart from the most recent pivot low (within the coil) at 29.25 from Mar 26. The weight of my technical work is telling me to regard the upmove from Mar 26 at 29.25 to the Apr 6 high at 32.43 as the start of a new upleg that should revisit the Jan high at 34.87. All of the action in HAL since the 32.43 high represents a sideways consolidation that is digesting the 11% upmove.

Retail Stocks XRT ETF No Signs of Peaking / Companies / Sector Analysis
The SPDR Retail ETF (XRT) is one heck of a bullish chart, which includes names like Whole Foods (WFMI), Sears (SHLD), OfficeMax (OMX), HSN (HSNI), Netflix (NFLX), Dress Barn (DBRN), and Family Dollar Stores (FDO). Purely from a pattern perspective, the XRT shows no sign of peaking, and is poised to hurdle Wed.'s high at 42.64. If the price structure moves vertically higher into a new upleg, it COULD make a run at its upper channel resistance lines in the 44.50- 45.50 target zone, or 5% to 7% more upside.

Did Tiger Woods Trash $12 Billion of Brand-Value; or Hand Over a $17 Billion Gift? / Companies / Stock Market Valuations
So far Nike has spent $60 million on Tiger Woods.
If you invest in companies that spend that sort of money on hype, the skill of management in distilling out bang for buck is an important consideration. That of course is the problem with advertising, only half of it works (if you’re lucky) and you never know which half, and more to the point, working out the value of the brand is just as hard.

Buying Opportunity in Ford? / Companies / US Auto's
Today's spike low at 12.34 in Ford (NYSE: F) looked and felt like near-term panic liquidation, which sometimes creates meaningful buying conditions. Thus far, since the opening hour of trading, such a scenario appears to be developing -- that F completed a significant correction from its 3/18 high at 14.54 into the 12.34 low (-15%).
