How the Terrorism "Trend" Is Moving Your Money Today / Companies / Sector Analysis

By: Money_Morning

Keith Fitz-Gerald writes: As an analyst known for making bold and unusual predictions in pursuit of profits, I am usually inclined to celebrate when my “calls” are proven right.

But when it comes to the proliferation of one of the six primary trillion-dollar trends we’re following – War, Terrorism & Ugliness (WTU) – I’ve got to be completely honest. There are times when I am uncomfortable with the human cost of being right.

That’s certainly the case right now, following the horrific assassinations of 10 journalists and two police officers earlier this week at the Charlie Hebdo magazine offices in Paris. In case you somehow missed the news, the killings were allegedly carried out by two brothers who had become radicalized Muslims in the Parisian ghettos of Gennevilliers acting in response to cartoons portraying the prophet Muhammad.

Healthcare Tops as 4Q14 Earnings Struggle / Companies / Healthcare Sector

By: DailyGainsLetter

George Leong writes: It’s that time again; another quarter has come to an end. The fourth-quarter earnings season numbers will officially start flooding in for the S&P 500 on Monday, with Alcoa Inc. (NYSE/AA) the first to report. However, the stock market is currently in a funk, beginning 2015 with weakening oil prices and continued concerns over the global economy. The problem: as the stock market searches for a reason to buy, several segments are suffering from the selling pressure. There is, however, one segment expected to look up heading into 1Q15 and that’s the healthcare sector. But more on that potential investment opportunity in a moment…

Three Reasons to Invest in Oil Stocks Now / Companies / Oil Companies

By: Investment_U

Marc Lichtenfeld writes: After trading north of $90 since June 2012, the price of oil has crashed, falling more than 50% from its high this summer and dipping below $50 per barrel Monday.

Nearly every pundit out there is declaring low oil prices are here to stay. With the glut of oil being produced by OPEC and the U.S., the days of $90 oil are over, they claim.

Is Citi Bank the Next AIG? / Companies / Credit Crisis Bailouts

By: John_Rubino

Back in December there was a flurry of press around the passage of a banking bill that was 1) reportedly written by Citigroup and 2) put taxpayers on the hook for over-the-counter derivatives, obscure financial instruments that periodically blow up and in which Citi had a big position. Distrustful cynics like Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren claimed to see a connection:

The "Jigsaw" Strategy for Investor Tech Stocks Profits 2015 / Companies / Tech Stocks

By: Money_Morning

William Patalon writes: My wife Robin is a financial advisor and a CPA.

She also possesses one of the sharpest minds I've ever seen.

That's probably why she has such an affinity for jigsaw puzzles. Back in upstate New York, when we were both attending business school together at night, there was nothing she liked more to "decompress" during the lull between the semesters than to do a jigsaw puzzle.

This Investing Move Could Help You Beat the Market by Over 20% in 2015 / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Keith Fitz-Gerald writes: Welcome to 2015 – I’m thrilled you’re here!

I think this year is gonna be absolutely filled with opportunity for investors, perhaps more than ever before. But few of us are set up to take full advantage of it. That’s because most people’s portfolios are totally out of whack. (I’ll show you what I mean in a moment – and why it cramps your returns.)

Two Stocks Perfect for Japan Demographics Crisis Anti-Trend Play / Companies / Japanese Stock Market

By: Money_Morning

Keith Fitz-Gerald writes: The really great thing about following our “Unstoppable Global Trends” is that there are many ways to invest in each of them. The possibilities are endless, as is the profit potential.

Take Demographics, for example.

We’ve talked a lot about what’s happening in Japan right now and the conditions there that make it the perfect “Anti-Trend” investment. Between the crushing debt, the aging population, the lack of a workable immigration policy, and decades of abysmal fiscal policy working against it, the country is in trouble – thus my recommendation to short the currency via ProShares UltraShort Yen (NYSEArca:YCS).

This American Design Classic Is a Great Stock to Buy in 2015 / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Michael E. Lewitt writes: Believe it or not, there are still a few U.S. companies that do not rely on debt, manipulative accounting, and massive stock buybacks to generate strong earnings and a high stock price in today's overpriced stock market.

Some companies, like the one I'm about to show you, still make money the old-fashioned way: selling a well-made product, managing their balance sheet, and finding and keeping management talent for the long haul.

Will Biotech Stocks Sector Fire on All Cylinders in 2015? / Companies / BioTech

By: TLSReport

Making predictions for the New Year may feel as productive as peering into a crystal ball. But in the life sciences, hard science and long experience back prognostication. The biotech market enjoyed a stellar 2013 and withstood a solid check in early 2014 before rebounding, essentially following the upward trend that most experts forecast. What is in store for 2015? The Life Sciences Report turned to newsletter writer John McCamant and WBB Securities' Steve Brozak for insight.

Commodity Companies with the Disruptive Advantage / Companies / Metals & Mining

By: Metals_Report

Globetrotting Chris Berry, founder of House Mountain Partners, finds most retail and institutional investors sitting on the sidelines waiting to see where the energy sector is headed before jumping back into the game. Game-changing disruptive technologies or sustainable end-user agreements are what companies need to succeed and he shares some likely names in the cobalt, lithium, nickel, graphite—even uranium—spaces in this interview with The Mining Report.

The Mining Report: Chris, on your travels, what are you seeing in Europe and Asia regarding supply and demand in the commodity markets?

Semiconductor Equipment Stocks Sector Update / Companies / Tech Stocks

NFTRH 322 covered the usual range of markets, from US to global stocks to precious metals and commodities to currencies and indicators.  It also included an extended economic discussion about the realities of the strong US economy and its dangerous underpinnings.

The economic segment began with this look at the Semiconductor Equipment sector, which was our first indicator on economic strength exactly 2 years ago and will be an initial indicator on economic deceleration when the time is right.

The Dark Clouds Over Cisco - Can Cisco Systems Reinvent Data Analysis? / Companies / Internet

By: Investment_U

Tom Sandford writes: A lot can change in 30 years of business, especially if the company is synonymous with the market segment.

Since its founding in 1984, Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) has grown to be worth $47 billion, with 72,000 global employees. But as IT hardware demand falls victim to the cloud, the company is scrambling to recoup losses from its biggest moneymaker.

Twitter, the Only Social Media Stock Play I'm Recommending Right Now / Companies / Tech Stocks

By: Money_Morning

Keith Fitz-Gerald writes: I recently talked about the secret I wish everybody knew when it comes to market timing and discussed one of the most valuable Total Wealth tools of all – the Put/Call Ratio.

I also promised you a look at one great trade in particular involving a current social media darling. Today I'd like to keep that promise.

If you've been with me for a while, you already know I don't like social media stocks. They're not hooked into our unstoppable trends (nope, not even Technology). Their products are "nice to have" instead of "need to have." And most of them have no real way to make money.
But that's the thing about tactics.

Why Alibaba Stock Shares Are a Screaming Buy / Companies / Internet

By: Money_Morning

When I'm not spending time digging through charts and analysis for Stealth Profits Trader, I like to look at some of the broader market elements that might be useful for any investor.

Today, I've found a great opportunity to buy a well-known and heavily traded stock at a great, low-risk price – perhaps even the best risk-adjusted price that we've seen on this stock to date.

Chaos Mounts in Russia. Here's What Investors Can Do… / Companies / Russia

By: Money_Morning

Dr. Kent Moors writes: The collapse in oil prices has exposed some vulnerable economies. All of them are dependent upon crude export sales to maintain even the appearance of a national budget.

As you might expect, every member of OPEC falls into this group, although Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates have sufficient reserves that will allow them to carry sizable budget deficits for some time.

Eurozone Conflict Will Bring a Major Stocks Buying Opportunity / Companies / Investing 2015

By: Money_Morning

Peter Krauth writes: As the European Central Bank (ECB) top brass battle it out on quantitative easing, the stakes couldn't be higher.

Europe's at the precipice of deflation, despite European Central Bank President Mario Draghi attempting to do "whatever it takes" to avoid that fate.

But dissent at the highest levels could quickly change the winds of investment in Europe.
