G.O.P.'s Prepares to Declare Permanent War / Politics / US Politics
House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon (R-CA) is pushing a bill through congress that will repeal due process and give the President nearly-unlimited powers to wage war wherever and whenever he chooses without congressional approval. Because the language in the so-called Detainee Security Act of 2011 is (intentionally?) vague, it's impossible to know at whom it is directed. Is the real focus on suspects captured by the military in the so-called War on Terror or civilians who oppose US foreign policy? It's hard to say. Here's an excerpt from an article in Talking Points Memo that mulls over that same question:

Bernanke Double Talk Creates Opportunity / Politics / Central Banks
When Fed Chairmen speak, the public is supposed to listen; and, historically, they have. Yet, Chairman Bernanke's remarks at his historic first press conference were met by a tidal wave of skepticism. Although many of the mainstream outlets, especially those lucky enough to be granted question slots, characterized his performance as "serious" and "masterful," most rank-and-file Americans were left with a very different impression.

The Fall of the U.S. Empire and the Breakup of the Geopolitical Matrix / Politics / GeoPolitics
A Casey Report Interview with Richard Maybury: With everything going on in the world today, we thought it a good time to catch up with the views of longtime friend Richard Maybury, a low-key but highly respected author, lecturer and analyst. In addition to his work consulting with businesses and high net worth individuals on strategic planning, Richard is the editor of the U.S. & World Early Warning Report, a monthly service that helps readers see the world as it is, versus how the media and the officialdom would like you to see it. Richard is widely regarded as one of the finest free-market writers in America today. His articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and other major publications.

Massive Radiation Cloud Heading Toward U.S And Canada / Politics / Environmental Issues
New forecasts show a very predominate cloud of radiation that seems to blanket most of the United states in the next few days. Looking at the map you can see that the brunt of this cloud will hit the Western United States as well as Canada very hard. With steady winds flowing from japan and heading east ,we will continue to see this happen. As mentioned in other articles, food supplies have already seen reports of low levels of Radiation being tested, and with these new massive fallout clouds heading east I’m sure these levels will increase.

Glaring Anomalies in the Official Narrative On Bin Laden Assassination / Politics / US Politics
Felicity Arbuthnot writes: “In politics stupidity is not a handicap”, Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821.)
For those who believe in omens, the triumphal announcement of the murder of Osama bin Laden, his son and various of his household (if it were he) by US., special forces, did not bode well.

The West Is Trapped In By Own Propaganda / Politics / Mainstream Media
One of the wishes that readers often express to me came true today (May 11). I was on the mainstream media. It was a program with a worldwide reach--the BBC World Service. There were others on the program as well, and the topic was Hillary Clinton’s remarks (May 10) about the lack of democracy and human rights in China.

Gasbag Hillary Clinton Blasts China on Human Rights / Politics / US Politics
Is there anything more irritating than listening to US officials blabber about "human rights"?
I mean, really, doesn't it drive you crazy? Here's Hillary Clinton bashing China for their "deplorable" human rights record, and meanwhile Bradley Manning sits naked and freezing in a 6' by 8' cinderblock cell in some far-flung American gulag waiting to get fingernails yanked out. Can you see the hypocrisy?

China, The New Bin Laden, Orwell Wrote The Script / Politics / US Politics
George Orwell, the pen name by which Eric Blair is known, had the gift of prophecy, or else blind luck. In 1949 in his novel, 1984, he described the Amerika of today and, I fear, also his native Great Britain, which is no longer great and follows Washington, licking the jackboot and submitting to Washington’s hegemony over England and Europe and exhausting itself financially and morally in order to support Amerikan hegemony over the rest of the world.

Why the West Is Attacking Gaddafi / Politics / US Politics
Outside powers in the West stirred up and blessed the rebellion against Gaddafi. Through NATO and the UN, they are now aiding these same rebels.
They want to get rid of Gaddafi. They want him removed from power. This article explains why they want this.

America's Homeless Middle Class / Politics / Social Issues
Simple luxuries like taking a family vacation or just taking the kids out to eat is nothing but a distant memory to many American families who once considered themselves middle class and are now just fighting to stay off the streets. After one of the worst economic downturns in our history, families who were breathing easy, just a couple of years ago, are now buried in a mountain of debt and being forced from their homes.

Appeasers or Cold Warriors: Must America Confront China? / Politics / US Politics
My last article, a review of Eamonn Fingleton’s provocative (but hard to dismiss) book In the Jaws of the Dragon: America’s Fate Under Chinese Hegemony, has drawn enough comment that I feel I should respond.Read full article... Read full article...

Religion Misusing the Word GOD / Politics / Social Issues
2011 is the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.
The most misused word in the English language may be the one spelled G-O-D. It is a word used freely and frequently by hundreds of millions of English-speaking people who belong to the Christian churches, and even as a curse word by many people.

Bin Laden Death Story Illustrates Americans Are Living In 1984 / Politics / US Politics
The White House’s “death of bin Laden” story has come apart at the seams. Will it make any difference that before 48 hours had passed the story had changed so much that it no longer bore any resemblance to President Obama’s Sunday evening broadcast and has lost all credibility?

On the Elimination of Osama bin Laden / Politics / US Politics
Last week marked an important milestone in the war on terrorism for our country. Osama bin Laden applauded the 9/11 attacks. Such deliberate killing of innocent lives deserved retaliation. It is good that bin Laden is dead and justice is served. The way in which he was finally captured and killed shows that targeted retribution is far superior to wars of aggression and nation-building. In 2001 I supported giving the president the authority to pursue those responsible for the vicious 9/11 attacks. However, misusing that authority to pursue nation-building and remaking the Middle East was cynical and dangerous, as the past ten years have proven.

END OF THE CITY OF GODS: A Fictional Account of the Last Priest of Teotihuacan / Politics / Social Issues
The Teotihuacan Empire (100 B.C. to 700 A.D.) was in the southwest edge of North America, generally near modern day Mexico City stretching south to the northern portion of Central America at its largest. The City of Teotihuacan itself had as many as 200,000 inhabitants at its peak, one of the largest and one of the richest cities in the world at the time. In 500 A.D., as Teotihuacan prospered, Europe had squandered the technical and institutional progress made during the Western Roman Empire. For another hundreds of years Europe was trapped in a despotic cycle of repression and mysticism now known as the Dark Ages.

Bin Laden Kill Video Re-Editing, A Pakistani Military Asset Destroyed? / Politics / Mainstream Media

Bernanke's Bubblenomics; Who Wins and Who Loses / Politics / Central Banks
Let's talk Bubbles.
Assets bubbles require massive amounts of leverage. But too much leverage can destabilize the system, so it needs to be regulated. But Wall Street doesn't like restrictions on leverage because it can make more money by borrowing like crazy, inflating a ginormous bubble, skimming off the profits, and cashing in before the crash. So, the Fed ignores Wall Street's "gearing" operations and pretends not to see what's going on. It becomes a bubble "enabler" by lowering interest rates, easing credit and waving-off tighter regulations. It's all part of the game. The Fed works to help its core constituents while everyone else is put at risk.

The U.S. is the World's Greatest Purveyor of Violence / Politics / US Politics
The greatest threat to Libyan sovereignty and independence is the United States of America. Nothing else comes close.
Gaddafi hasn't been targeted because he's a tyrant, but because he sits on an ocean of petroleum. That's what this is all about, right? If Libya's main source of wealth was car parts or coconuts, there never would have been a war.
