Will The European Union Just Dissolve? / Politics / European Union
Now the real fun begins.
Last night Britons voted to leave the European Union, sending shock waves around the world — though not directly or immediately threatening the concept of European integration.
But what comes next emphatically does. Emboldened by the Brits, nationalist parties across the Continent are gearing up for exit votes of their own. Some notables:

BrExit: The System Cannot Hold / Politics / EU_Referendum
Well, they did it. A majority of Britons made clear they’re so fed up with David Cameron and everything he says or does, including promoting the EU, that they voted against that EU. They detest Cameron much more than they like Nigel Farage or Boris Johnson. It seems that everyone has underestimated that.
Cameron just announced he’s stepping down. And that points to a very large hole in the ground somewhere in London town. Because going through a list of potential leaders, you get the strong impression there are none left. Not to run the country, and not to negotiate anything with Brussels. Which has a deep leadership -credibility- hole of itself, even though the incumbents are completely blind to that.

Believe it or Not: More Kids Live At Home Now than Since The Great Depression / Politics / Social Issues
We all know the situation in the markets is dire.
Like, really, everyone knows.
There’s an old phrase from Margaret Thatcher’s day (and mine, I suppose) that has recently come back into use: There is no alternative.
There’s even an acronym: TINA.

Offshore Shakedown: FATCA, The Panama Papers and Why You Need a Self-Directed IRA / Politics / Taxes
I recently sat down for an interview with TDV Offshore‘s Managing Director Paul Seymour to discuss the worsening worldwide situation for financial privacy and economic survival. Topics included the Panama Papers, precious metals, self-directed IRAs, 401Ks, The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) , offshore bank accounts, offshore corporations and Paul’s belief that a financial catastrophe may loom as soon as October 2016.

Fascist Victory Behind the European Union / Politics / European Union
Most of what you learned from orthodox history schooling is flat out wrong. Add into this indoctrination, the movie accounts that portray the reasons and motivations about the conflict during World War II. Especially, the European theater which has been obfuscated in scores of books and political analysis, mislead and distort the facts. All the efforts to chastise the NAZI regime profoundly ignore the true end results of the German surrender. To the victors belongs the descriptive end account of the narrative. Yet, when you peel back the onion, the tears that are exposed carry forward well into the next millennium.

Is Orlando The New 9/11? / Politics / War on Terror
Last week America was rocked by the cold-blooded murder of 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Unlike the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Orlando shooter appears to be a lone gunman who, while claiming allegiance to ISIS, was not actually working with a terrorist group. About the only thing Orlando has in common with 9/11 is the way power-hungry politicians and federal officials wasted no time using it to justify expanding government and restricting liberty.

Brexit Would Trigger Devolution of Europe / Politics / EU_Referendum
UK citizens will vote on June 23 whether to leave the European Union. The latest polls suggest that the vote is very close and the “Leave” side has a slight edge.
The poll I saw recently, however, showed “Leave” ahead by a full 10 points—55 to 45. More importantly, the trend over the past few weeks has seen the spread in favor of “Leave” widen.

Donald Trump vs The First Amendment / Politics / US Politics
If Donald Trump should become president, don’t expect his administration to be a transparent one or one that tolerates dissent and believes in the First Amendment.
At his campaign rallies, even those held at public venues, he forbids, according to his press advisories, “homemade signs, banners, professional cameras with a detachable lens, tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, back packs or large bags.”

The Lies That Sustain US / Politics / US Politics
America has one of the best and fastest growing auto manufacturers in the world and no one seems to know the company. Let me explain.
The US D.O.P.E. (Department Of Pathological Embellishment - a.k.a. the ‘Commerce Department’) just put out some great news that was so obviously meant to stem the now 3-day selloff in stocks. The great news is americans are spending money like drunken sailors on leave. Of course, anyone with a brain cell knows very well that the DOPE is simply a vestige of Nazi-ism in that it is a propaganda wing of a regime intent on deceit. So, to make us happy, or to make us believe all is well, we are told that consumers are spending money and the economy is about to take off!!! Isn’t ‘next quarter’ always going to be the quarter the economy heats up?

This Demographic Shift Makes Our Social Security Useless / Politics / Demographics
BY PATRICK COX: The 2008 financial crisis delivered a TKO to the global economy. Since then, the media has been reassuring us that the US economy is recovering.
Unfortunately, it has been the weakest post-recession recovery in modern history. Some people have seen no recovery whatsoever, and most Americans are losing ground and hope.
Why have so many people been so wrong?

Philosophy of the New World Order / Politics / New World Order
The phrase, New World Order, just does not seem comprehensive enough to explain the circumstances that mankind is living under. The German expression, "weltanschauung" referred to as a philosophical view or apprehension of the universe is often used to ponder the human condition. Individual beliefs and understanding of the very nature of mankind was once seen in the convention of the Greek school of thought reflected in the teaching of Plato and Aristotle. Western Civilization essentially is based upon these principles and the cosmology of our heritage is involved and inseparable with an understanding of our spiritual dimension.

Fascism: A Bipartisan Affliction / Politics / US Politics
If neoconservatives and progressives truly understood fascism, they would stop using the word as a smear term. That is because both groups, along with most political figures and commentators, embrace fascist ideas and policies.
Fascism's distinguishing characteristic is a "mixed economy." Unlike socialists and communists who seek to abolish private business, fascists are content to let business remain in private hands. Instead, fascists use regulations, mandates, and taxes to control business and run (and ruin) the economy. A fascist system, then, is one where private businesses serve politicians and bureaucrats instead of consumers. Does the modern American economy not fit the definition of fascism?

Who’s Really The Fascist? / Politics / Social Issues
Like most of you, I too see an increase in the use of the term ‘fascism’ in the media, and it is -almost- always linked to the rise of Donald Trump in the US and various politicians and parties in Europe, Le Pen in France, Wilders in Holland, Erdogan in Turkey, plus a pretty bewildering and motley crew of ‘groups’ in Eastern Europe (Hungary’s Orban) and Scandinavia. I guess you could throw in Nigel Farage and UKIP in Britain as well.

China’s Maritime Moves Are Nothing More Than a Show of Strength / Politics / China US Conflict
BY GEORGE FRIEDMAN : The Chinese have a strategic problem in the South and East China Seas. China is obviously interested in what happens in these waters, but there is much speculation as to why the level of interest is so high.
The answer is simple: China wants to keep foreign powers away from its coast and away from waters vital to its global trade routes.
China’s greatest threat in these waters is the United States. Given the size of the US Navy and the location of the islands off China’s coast, the Navy is capable of blocking China's access to the ocean. This would deal a serious economic blow to China.

Presidential Dictatorship / Politics / Social Issues
Executive orders, undeclared wars, drone hits, assassination of citizens and non-citizens alike, the overthrow of foreign regimes, domestic spying, the abetting of known criminal activities through pardons, economic planning, opening borders, monetary manipulations are just some of the nefarious activities that routinely emanate from the most dangerous political office that the world has ever painfully come to know – the United States Presidency!

What Makes Venezuela Different / Politics / Venezuela
Ryan W. McMaken writes: Unlike other leftist South American regimes, the Venezuela regime has intentionally crushed even the middle and working classes.
The economic disaster in Venezuela has prompted many to take a look at the country and attempt to understand what it is that has made things so bad in Venezuela.

Senators Embedded Within a Brain Fog / Politics / US Politics
The U.S. Senate—under the leadership of Mitch McConnell who once said his primary mission was to see that the Senate didn’t agree with anything President Obama said or did, and to limit him to one term—continues to be one of the nation’s leading obstructionists. This time, the Senate isn’t meeting to advise or consent to the President’s nomination of Chief Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.
Garland was valedictorian in his class at Harvard College and a magna ***** laude graduate from the Harvard law school. He worked in the Department of Justice before becoming the chief judge on the D,C. Court of Appeals, having been confirmed by the Senate, March 1997.

Who Shall Wear The Robe And Crown? / Politics / Social Issues
I was going to take a day off today, partly because a kind Automatic Earth reader in Athens insisted on taking me out to lunch, partly because I need a break, and partly because the Financial Times complained about their inclusion in my Debt Rattles, which makes me think about the whole thing. Nothing bad about that. Think is good.

Bilderberg Will Not Allow Britain to BrExit - Where Is The Mainstream Media? / Politics / EU_Referendum
Bilderberg was founded in 1954 and is an annual private conference of 120 to 150 people of the European and North American political elite, leaders from industry, finance, academia and the media.
Along with Luke Rudkowski of We Are Change and Dan Dicks of Press For Truth, I infiltrated the conference last year. We were surprised to find the entire White House Press Corp. staying in the Bilderberg hotel in Austria. We wondered if Bilderberg was finally going to be more transparent.

How Fiat Money Destroys Culture / Politics / Fiat Currency
Jörg Guido Hülsmann writes: It may seem unusual that an economist would talk about culture. Usually, we talk about prices and production, quantities produced, employment, the structure of production, scarce resources, and entrepreneurship.
But there are certain things that economists can say about the culture, and more precisely, that economists can say about the transformation of the culture. So what is culture? Well, to put it simply, it is the way we do things. This can include the way we eat — whether or not we dine with family members on a regular basis, for example — how we sleep, and how we use automobiles or other modes of transportation. And of course, the way we produce, consume, or accumulate capital are important aspects of the culture as well.
