Obama/Romney Presidential Debate Was a Long Walk Through Fantasy Land / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Martin Hutchinson writes: On economic matters, the second presidential debate on Tuesday evening is one that took place in fantasyland.
Despite the spin, it bore no relation whatsoever to the problems we actually face.
Much of the economic part of the discussion centered around the President Barack Obama's and Governor Mitt Romney's competing plans to cut taxes. That discussion itself was laughable.

Romney and Obama, Middle Class Mumbo Jumbo / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Like many, I partook in debate watching Tuesday evening. And during the entire debate all I kept thinking was when is Jerry Springer going to pop out and/or this must be some new show called Punk-the-Prez. Two grown men, bought and paid for, arguing over when the President first used the word 'terror', why Romney has flip-flopped on countless issues (a surprise for a politician?), and why the U.S. economy smells just as bad as it did 4-years ago. An enthralling dance, and yet at the same time devoid of substance.

Romney Tax Plan Details Still a Mystery Despite All the Talk / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Diane Alter writes: While GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has provided a bit more information on his tax plan, many key details are still missing - meaning it's tough to figure out exactly what you'd owe Uncle Sam if Romney wins Election 2012.
Romney and vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan, R-WI, have outlined several broad Romney tax plan goals: do not increase the deficit; do not raise taxes on middle income taxpayers; and do not reduce the share of taxes paid by higher-income Americans.

Romney & Co. Distort Medicare Realities, Democrats Did NOT steal $716 billion from Medicare / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Several times during the first presidential debate, Mitt Romney claimed President Obama had stolen $716 billion from Medicare to fund the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare. Paul Ryan repeat that lie, as well as several other distortions and half-truths, in the vice-presidential debate.

Romney Election Win Would End Quantitative Easing / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
It’s been nearly eight years, since Fed chief Ben Bernanke told the Senate Banking Committee at his confirmation hearing, that “with respect to monetary policy, I will make continuity with the policies and policy strategies of the Greenspan Fed a top priority.” The former Princeton University professor who served as a Fed governor from August 2002 to June 2005 before accepting the post as President George W. Bush’s top economic adviser, also pledged, “I will be strictly independent of all political influences,” Bernanke said.

American's Don’t Vote for Evil / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Back during the George W. Bush neocon regime, President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela in his UN speech summed up George W. Bush for the world. I am quoting Chavez from memory, not verbatim. “Yesterday standing at this same podium was Satan himself, speaking as if he owned the world. You can still smell the sulfur.”Chavez is one of the American right-wing’s favorite bogyman, because Chavez helps the people instead of bleeding them for the rich, which is Washington’s way. While Washington has driven all but the one percent into the ground, Chavez has cut poverty in half, doubled university enrollment, and provided health care and old age pensions to millions of Venezuelans for the first time.

Beyond the U.S. Fiscal Cliff, Dollar At Risk?
Looking beyond the fiscal cliff, we are afraid the greenback may be at risk no matter who wins the election. We examine the risk to the U.S. dollar in the context of the likely policies pursued under either an Obama or Romney administration.

Just How Dangerous Is Mitt Romney? / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Eric Margolis writes: The two titans of American politics, President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney, locked horns this week in the first televised debate of the election season.
Romney managed to show that he was still a viable candidate in spite of a barrage of recent criticism and increasingly negative polls. Obama spoke with his usual oratorical mastery and projected an air of deep thought and calm. But to many, the president appeared rather tired and lacking in his usual pep. Being president and campaigning at the same time is exhausting.

Election Time In Obamaland / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
OBAMA OH BUMMER
As president, Obama carried on and carried out what many persons call "the US Imperium" - by continuing its designer wars, its domestic intimidation and mass hysteria worthy of a Ruritarian Warsaw pact country of the 1980s, such as Ceacescu's Romania, by facilitating its corporate kleptocratic empowerment and the "social eugenics" program to continually enrich the rich, and impoverish the poor, especially Black and Hispanic minorities. In a few words, a real Democrat.

High U.S. Unemployment Rate, Obama Failure or Bush Catastrophe for Romney to Continue? / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Democrats and republican have been busy putting their own spin on the latest unemployment data released by the BLS which shows that the US unemployment rate fell below 8% for the first time in 45 months by falling 0.3% to 7.8% for September 2012, down from a high of 10% reached in October 2009.

Did Romney Cheat in the First Presidential Debate, Does Video Show Hidden Notes or Hanky? / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Mitt Romney was declared by over 80% of viewers to have won the first presidential debate as he managed to successfully go on the offensive against an seemingly tired and distant Barack Obama who both failed to defend himself or attack Romney or many of the inaccurate statements Romney made such as that 23 million workers were unemployed (counting part-timers).

US Presidential Debate: Defending Vultures / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
The 2012 American election will be seen as a watershed event, but not so much for defining any future outline for the United States, but in illustrating the absolute unwillingness of both political parties to openly admit hard and ugly facts that underlie the enormous problems engulfing most Americans and their democracy.

Don't Cry For Us, Mitt Romney / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Mitt Romney and the GOP establishment desperately need a few million votes in order to beat Obama in the 2012 General Election. The GOP could have had most of the Ron Paul voter support if Romney had named either Ron Paul or Rand Paul as his VP running mate.

Five Tough Questions That Need to be Asked at Tonight's Obama-Romney Election Debate / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Martin Hutchinson writes: I hate to break it to Ben Affleck, but he is wrong about the election. With just 34 days left until voters head to the polls, the election 2012 race is still completely up for grabs.
Even still, in a recent interview with the AP, Affleck lumped Romney comfortably in with the likes of such memorable losers as Michael Dukakis, Al Gore and Bob Dole.

Will Spain Economic Collapse Put Romney In The White House? / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Let’s be clear about this: Mitt Romney can only win the election if the American economy numbers plummet - significantly - in the next 30 days. Mitt's op-eds about the Middle East are not going to cut it. That is, of course, major caveat, unless Mitt has Diebold firmly in his pocket. But that for us is a known unknown.

Obama and Romney on China: Who’s Lying? / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have both been upping the ante on international trade issues lately, especially America's big trade flashpoint, China.
Romney recently picked up an unintended reverse endorsement, of a sort, from the Club for Growth, a millionaires' club super PAC that would normally be a natural friend to the likes of him. Citing his threats to impose a tariff on China if that nation doesn't end its currency manipulation, they deemed him insufficiently enthusiastic about free trade and refused to endorse him. Perversely, this is good news from the point of view of trade reform, as it suggests that these consummate political insiders, who may know a thing or two we peasants don't, may just have tipped us off that his tough line on China trade is authentic.

Will Obama Keep Power By Any Means Necessary? / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Jack D. Douglas writes: This question has been raised a vast number of times since LBJ.
It misses the crucial reality of power at the top of the U.S.
The "Presidents" have long been front men for the vast military, secret police, government bureaucracies, big corps.....Reagan was the beginning of the obvious Actor-Lip-Synching-Presidents. [JFK and Nixon were probably eliminated by the CIA et al. because they insisted on pursuing Detente with the Soviets in reality, rather than as mere rhetoric for the Mass-Mediated Dunces. That enraged the CIA and other Brass. Ford went along. Carter was kind of out of it and irrelevant.] Since Reagan, all have been acting their parts, Clinton and Obama brilliantly, except Bush 1 who was the Director of the CIA and all the Secret Government in the White House. Iran-Contra was a tip of the iceberg of the Secret Coup In The White House, in that case obviously run by admirals and colonels under Bush 1.

The Obama-Romney Energy Crisis Show / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
HOW WE ASSASSINATE THE ECONOMY
What crisis? Much like any failed but sincere attempt at assassination, Romney fully intends carrying on and carrying out the Obama plan for using energy of all and any kinds - expensive or not, fossil or not - to further wreck the US economy. Even in the Romney camp, not too far below the surface, we can find bright advocates of energy apocalypse theory that date from Clinton and Bush times. This is all-party political business as usual, preening and posturing. A typical one-liner is: "fossil fuels burned by industrialized civilization have gravely damaged the ecosystem". That is of course when insufficient fossil fuel production is not ruining the economy. Take your pick.
