Sheffield Eid Festival 2014, Millhouses Park Photos / Local / Sheffield
The Sheffield Eid Festival of 2014 expanded from 1 day to a 2 day event turned out to be a tale of 2 days, with only approx 4,000 people attending on Saturday (2nd August) compared to twice the number of at least 8,000 attending on Sunday (3rd August). Though this mismatch between numbers attending had less to do with the organisers and more to do with the Met Office / BBC's inaccurate weather forecast of rain literally for the whole of the Saturday time-table that failed to materialise.

Sheffield Half Marathon Cancelled Incompetent Organisers Refusing to Refund Runners / Local / Sheffield
Sheffield, supposedly the city of sport has been truly nationally humiliated as within minutes of the start of the cities annual half marathon it was cancelled due to for all reasons lack of water, which left some 4,500 runners, many of whom had trained for months to stand twiddling their thumbs. Some in disgust decided to run the half marathon anyway. However, the organisers were not even competent at canceling the race by failing to properly announce to all of the entrants that the race had indeed been cancelled so over half the entrants followed the lead of those at the front and ran the race, relying on the good people of Sheffield to provide them with water enroute.

Save Sheffield From Labour! Roma Immigration Crisis the Latest Labour Council Failure / Local / Sheffield
The mainstream media continues to report on the consequences of the most recent wave of mass immigration underway from eastern europe in the form of Roma villages moving lock, stock and barrel to places such as Sheffield's Page Hall area or as it is being to refer to by some locals as Page Hole, as the latest wave of migration appears to have prompted panic amongst pro-immigration Labour politicians on fears of a voter back lash such as the former Labour Home Secretary, David Blunkett who recently warned of the potential for civil unrest during 2014 as a consequence of the arrival of as many as 8000 Roma peoples with a concentration of approx 4,000 in the Page Hall area alone.

Sheffield Roma Riots 2014 Warns Labour MP David Blunkett - Immigration Cultural Catastrophe / Local / Sheffield
It is not often that left wing normally pro-immigration Labour MP's can be found to be warning of the consequences of mass immigration, and not just any old back bencher but the former Labour Home Secretary David Blunkett was recently widely reported in the mainstream media warning of the consequences of immigration in the form of the ongoing influx of Roma communities from eastern europe into his home city of Sheffield where the Roma population has soared from less one hundred 8 years ago to well over 4,000 today, concentrated in pockets of the city such as Page Hall, that he warns could spill over into violence on the streets due to the clash of cultures between the indigenous / settled communities and the huge Roma influx underway as Czech, Slovak and Romanian Roma villages are literally moving lock stock and barrel to places such as Sheffield to draw on 15-20 times the financial value of benefits and social services that they are in receipt of in the likes of Romania.

Sheffield City Council Selective Licensing New 25% Landlord Tax to Trigger House Prices Drop? / Housing-Market / Sheffield
Many of Sheffield's landlords are in uproar as the Council looks set to impose what amounts to an average 25% tax on the bottom end of the cities privately rented housing sector by means of a £1000 additional charge to existing fees on EACH property, given that such targeted properties would yield an annual rental income of between £300 and £400 per month, therefore this amounts to a tax of between 20% and 27% of a years rental income that wipes out most of the profit earned which will have the effect of triggering Landlords to rush to dump and avoid the bottom end of the rental sector which suggests an imminent temporary drop in house prices at the bottom end of the cities housing market, that would also suggest an opportunity for first time buyers this summer.

Sheffield School Places Chaos 2013, Labour Run City Council Cuts 10,000 Places / Local / Sheffield
A large number of parents will be finding during 2013 that their child will not have been given a place at an catchment area school, with the excuse given that the school is full and thus instead given places many miles away. The reason why this is happening with increasingly frequency is as a consequence of the Labour run Sheffield City Council continuing the Liberal Democrats programme for deep cuts in Sheffield's education budget as the below graph illustrates that in nominal terms has seen the education budget cut by 11% since 2010 and 17% in real terms (after inflation of 3% per annum), despite continuously increasing council tax bills.
