The Hidden Gem of Asia’s Android Smartphone Boom / Companies / Tech Stocks
It’s true. You have to be smart to use a smartphone. It is also true that my smartphone is a lot smarter than I am because I’ve yet to figure out how to use all of its bells and whistles.
Smartphones are the newest generation of mobile phones that can do a lot more than simply make phone calls and send/receive text messages. Besides offering advanced computing ability and connectivity, smartphones play music, take pictures, surf the internet, send/receive email, voice dial, have GPS services, synchronize with your PC, and have word processing and video game applications.

Investing in Tech Stocks With Strong Growth Potential / Companies / Tech Stocks
Rudy Martin writes: After I saw investors dump tech stocks like hot potatoes — after tech-bellwether Cisco (CSCO) recently reported dismal quarterly results — I kept wondering where the values might be for longer-term investors.
How might you avoid the Cisco fallout from slower U.S. and European sales? What if you could select companies with more than 20% of revenues coming from emerging markets such as China?

Has the Stock Market Internet Index Peaked ? if so, What Now? / Stock-Markets / Tech Stocks
I have chosen to highlight the Internet Index at this time, as it represents the business sector that dominates the hearts, minds and the deep wallets of Gen Y - those born during or after the 1980's. It is ironic that prior to the 1980's the stock market was dominated by companies making the necessities of life, while you might say that the stockmarket of today is dominated by companies dealing with services that we are told we cannot live without.Read full article... Dell Aims to Double Sales of Service Businesses in Three Years / Companies / Tech Stocks
Don Miller writes: After losing a bidding war for a highly-sought-after acquisition target, many companies would pull in their horns and take time to regroup before venturing back into the murky mergers and acquisitions (M&A) pool.
But personal-computer icon Dell Inc. (Nasdaq: DELL), which lost out in a highly-publicized bidding war for 3Par Inc. (NYSE: PAR), is forging ahead with an aggressive multi-billion dollar acquisition plan.

Apple’s iPad Continues to Lead Its Rivals / Companies / Tech Stocks
Tony Daltorio writes: Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) reported sales of only 4.2 million units in its most recent quarter. That disappointed some investors, who then took it out on the stock.
But they forgot that iPad sales still look decent for an item only unveiled in January and introduced in April.

Five Tech ETFs to Look at Now / Companies / Tech Stocks
You can always count on one thing in the technology sector: Change! The cutting-edge inventions that fascinated us so much back in the 1990s are de rigueur now. Where will we be in ten years? I can only imagine.
As I said last year in my Trade Technology with ETFs column, playing tech trends with individual stocks is a high-risk game. You never know where the next big breakthrough will originate. Even a portfolio of 15-20 tech stocks might not catch the big winners.

How Much Higher Can Apple Go? / Companies / Tech Stocks
With Apple (AAPL) at $292 or so, many are wondering how much higher it can go from here. Purely from a technical perspective, both the measured upmove off of the July-Sep base formation and the Aug-Sep bullish price channel point to 295.00, with overshoot to 298.00-300.00.

Technology, America’s Greatest Wealth Creation Engine / Companies / Tech Stocks
Those who know me well know that I am in incurable optimist. I think the world is going to be better in ten years than it is today. I thought that 20 years ago and 10 years ago and expect to think that 10 years from now. Part of that reasoning comes from the accelerating pace of change in the technology world. The next 10 years will see more change than the last 20-30 years combined!

Stock Market Warnings From Tech Sector – Bad News For Economy! / Stock-Markets / Tech Stocks
Much of the hope for the economic recovery picking up momentum again has been driven by expectations that the technology sector will lead the way, the key expectation being that it’s about time for the ‘computer replacement cycle’ to kick in.Supposedly corporations and households have not been keeping up with the latest computer models, operating systems, and software from Dell, HP, Apple, and Microsoft, etc., and should begin purchasing to catch up.

New Upleg for Cisco / Companies / Tech Stocks
Without a doubt, CSCO has carved out a 2 1/2-month base-like accumulation pattern since mid-May, which heretofore registered multiple rally failures in the vicinity of 24.00 ... until today, that is.
Let's notice the upside thrust from 24.00 to today's high at 24.65. My work argues that it is the initiation of a new upleg to fulfill the upside potential projected off of the bullish pattern, which points to a minimum target of 24.90-25.20 to the 27.00 area over time.

Three Reasons Technology Companies Will Continue to Coast Through 2010 / Companies / Tech Stocks
Kerri Shannon writes: Technology companies had a blowout first half marked by strong earnings and successful product rollouts. But the second half of 2010 could be even bigger, because a flurry of merger and acquisition activity, corporate IT splurges, and high consumer demand - particularly in emerging markets - have set the stage for a serious haul.
