Commodities Bull Market Super Cycle is Dead? / Commodities / Resources Investing
“Those who had been riding the upward wave decide now is the time to get out. Those who thought the rally would last forever, find their illusion destroyed abruptly, and they, also, respond to the newly revealed reality, by selling or trying to sell. And thus the rule, supported by the experience of centuries, - the speculative episode always ends not with a whimper, but with a bang,” so wrote John Kenneth Galbraith in his book “A Short History of Financial Euphoria.”Read full article... Commodities Extremely Oversold / Commodities / Resources Investing
Faced with slowing global growth, macro investors began dumping commodities and commodity-related stocks, with small- and mid-cap stocks hurt the most. This commodities sell-off, which began in July and has continued into August, also corresponds to the long-term seasonal cycle in which prices for many commodities tend to bottom out in late summer before rebounding in the fall.Read full article... Commodities Asset Classes: Energy, Minerals and Agri-Foods / Commodities / Resources Investing
Ever since paper oil prices broke, journalists around the world have been brutally attacking keyboards in a rush to declare the end to investing in commodities. Business media anchors keep asking the same question, “Are commodities done?” While teaching a journalist is the equivalent of attempting to train a cat, we continue to remind all of one simple message. Commodities is not a homogeneous asset class. It is comprised of three distinct groups, as listed below.Read full article... Read full article...

Commodities Super Cycle Heading for Demand Destruction? / Commodities / Resources Investing
Jesse Livermore, the world's greatest trader used to say, “Remember, the market is designed to fool most of the people most of the time. Sometimes, the market will go contrary to what speculators have predicted. At these times, speculators must abandon their predictions and follow the action of the market. Never argue with the tape. Markets are never wrong, but opinions often are. I only try to react to what the market is telling me by its behavior,” he said. After Reuters CRB Index of 19-exchange traded commodities plunged by 10% in July, its biggest monthly decline since March 1980, the five-year bull-run for the “Commodity Super Cycle” appears to have peaked out, and speculators are building net short positions in commodities. “I came to learn that even when one is properly bearish at the very beginning of a bear market, it is not well to begin selling in bulk until there is no danger of the engine back-firing,” Livermore warned.

Commodities Purge Offers Long-Term Investment Opportunity / Commodities / Resources Investing
Are we at the end of the commodity bull market or does this battered sector offer an attractive buying opportunity?
That's the question on the minds of everyone trying to navigate one of the most complex and volatile markets we've seen in years. The continuing economic slowdown (particularly at home and in other G-7 countries), combined with more than a year of bleak news from the financial sector, has left investors dazed and desperate.

The Best and Worst Investments For the NEXT 5 YEARS! / Stock-Markets / Resources Investing
Larry Edelson writes: I often discuss what I think are the best investments out there. But this morning, I'm going to spend some time talking about what I think are the worst investments for today, tomorrow and the next five years.
Obviously, given the state of our economy and financial markets, there are a lot more lousy investments than there are good ones.

The Insanity of Rising Crude Oil AND Gold Prices / Commodities / Resources Investing
One characteristic of the charts is that they show patterns which demand attention, regardless of any preconceptions or prejudices one might have.
I have been writing fairly extensively recently about a psychological phenomenon known as “cognitive dissonance” which – broadly speaking – means that a healthy mind cannot comfortably hold two conflicting thoughts simultaneously. Typically what happens if one has a fairly well entrenched view on any subject, and a piece of conflicting evidence manifests, is that one either rejects the new evidence as being “obviously” (?) wrong, refuses to acknowledge its existence, or rationalises it away as being unimportant.

Changes- Living in the Last Days of Cheap Resources and Cheap Commodities / Commodities / Resources Investing
Went to the store and paid 7 bucks for 2 pounds of fresh North Carolina blueberries. Does that sound like a good deal? Milk was close to 5 dollars a gallon. Interest Rates and Commodity Cycles- What Makes a Bubble? / Commodities / Resources Investing
Larry Moe and Curly formed one of the most successful comedy trios in history, who rightfully so, went with the stage name The Three Stooges . Their routine was based on physical slapstick comedy applied to numerous stories and awkward situations. Their bumbling stupidity and lack of focus on any given situation made for entertaining comedy clips that spanned several decades of the 20th century. An example of their fine comedic routines can be seen in this clip titled Carpenters . To view an infinite supply of "The Three Stooges", simply enter this into the search bar on www.youtube.com and be prepared to be entertained for hours.Read full article... Read full article...

Why there is Speculation in Commodities / Commodities / Resources Investing
Mike Larson writes: Congress is up in arms. And the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is on the warpath. Their target: Speculators in the natural resources market.
The CFTC said this week that it's investigating a dramatic rise in cotton prices from earlier this year. It also plans to tighten some rules that apply to investors in the broader agricultural futures markets. Those steps come just a few days after the regulatory body said it would investigate oil trading activity to see if prices are being manipulated.

Energy and Natural Resources Bull Market Investing / News_Letter / Resources Investing
The world is now several years into the commodities secular bull market that is expected to span many decades. Undoubtedly the market trends will contain many mini-bear markets within the overall bull market as prices are bid higher by speculators chasing limited supply as we have witnessed with rice these past few weeks and are likely to witness with crude oil later this year.Read full article... Inflation Leaves Investors Little Choice But to Invest in Commodities / Commodities / Resources Investing
The peaceful co-existence between commodity-related investments and most sectors which comprise the broader US Stock indices, is drawing to a close. As inflation tightens its grip over the world economy, US treasuries and stocks (consumer-related, tech, and financials) will suffer while investments in tangible assets will see their gains accelerate higher. I consider the terms "inflation" and "currency debasement" to be largely synonymous. The bottom line is that purchasing power is going to drastically decline. Income and wealth is not going to keep up with rising prices for goods and services for the US consumer. Hard asset investments will emerge as the sole safe haven against the deleterious effects of inflation.Read full article... Read full article...

Commodities Boom- You ain't seen Nothing Yet! / Commodities / Resources Investing
Nearly every natural resource under the sun is about to enter the second, most powerful phase of their bull markets, eventually reaching dizzying heights that make today's record prices seem tame by comparison.
Almost everyone would scoff if I gave you my peak projections for copper, uranium, corn, wheat, and each of the other commodities I follow. They'd probably lock me up in Bellevue!

Cyclical Corrections In Secular Trends / Commodities / Resources Investing
That is what is happening right now in stocks, commodities, and currencies, as the secular trends that were prevalent in all three asset groups up until mid-May will reassert themselves at the appropriate time, in the not too distant future. For stocks, this will involve a newer trend lower in both absolute and relative terms. For currencies and commodities the understanding is not so straightforward however, where all of the former are depreciating against the later being the important take-away. As per our title however, in the meantime cyclical (intermediate-term) corrections that can last for months are in play at present, meaning commodities could correct lower for some time (months) as the US Dollar Index ($) works off an oversold condition.Read full article... Commodities Correct after recent Strong Rallies / Commodities / Resources Investing
Grains
Corn fell for the fourth straight day, with the July contract settling 8.25 cents lower at $5.99 a bushel. Improving planting conditions in the U.S. Midwest with forecasts for no major storms before May 21st will accelerate plantings that have experienced extended delays due to wet weather.
Soybeans held firm today after gaining nearly 3-percent yesterday. The July contract settled unchanged at $13.79 ½ a bushel. New crop futures closed higher with the November contract gaining 7 1/4 cents at $13.33 a bushel. Favorable corn planting conditions, strong demand, and a farmer strike in Argentina sent soybeans steady to higher on the session.

Portfolio Allocation to Precious Metals- How to Invest $100,000 / Portfolio / Resources Investing
For the last two days, I attended and participated in the Hard Assets Investment Conference in New York City which was well attended with many great speakers and companies. I always encourage investors to attend these conferences to get a real ‘hands on feel', after all, it is your money. Meet the management, ask questions and visit newsletter writers. I would have to say, the consensus was that investors should not expect gold and silver prices to rise for perhaps the next several months and that the markets are still very vulnerable to a decline in gold into the upper 700's. That said, prices are consolidating within the long-term bull market and investors need to exercise patience and continue to seek out excellent companies and deploy their investment dollars as opportunities present themselves.Read full article... Resource Stocks that are Chinese Takeover Targets / Commodities / Resources Investing
Tony Sagami writes: As I've told you before, I believe the #1 rule for making money in the next decade is to get long whatever the Chinese are buying.
After all, China will need to consume an unprecedented amount of natural resources to fuel its red-hot economy and feed its 1.4 billion people. And in a moment, I'm going to give you four specific areas to target, and the company in each area that looks most like a takeover candidate.
