The Hottest Investable Market on Earth 2014 / Stock-Markets / Investing 2014

By: Money_Morning

China has been dominating the headlines in recent days.

And not in a good way.

Since late last week, worries about slowing growth, financial-system shenanigans and the potential for an “Asian-Contagion” type spillover have whacked global stocks – and have left folks wondering if the “China Miracle” is over.

But China’s kind of like a still-young tech venture: There are going to be reversals, it’s going to be volatile, and it’s normal to expect this kind of whipsaw market action.

How to Profit During High Inflation / Companies / Investing 2014

By: Don_Miller

Anyone with a technical degree will admit that college programmed them to consider "sell" a dirty word—to think salespeople use trickery to lure consumers into buying things they don't need. It makes no difference whether it's an investment product or a Pet Rock; anyone involved with selling or its evil twin marketing is guilty until proven innocent.

I spent the majority of my first career in sales and marketing, where I focused on negotiations and pricing. My clients included 40 of the top 500 US corporations. Now I work alongside some of the best economists and analysts in the world, and well, let's just say I bring a different perspective and experience base to our meetings.

Stock Market Investing 2014 - Top Picks / Companies / Investing 2014

By: Charles_Carnevale

My biggest pet peeve regarding common stock investing is how so many people have a tendency to over-generalize this asset class. Commonly held beliefs such as investing in stocks is risky, or that the stock market is overvalued, or that the fed is driving stock prices, etc., are just a few examples illustrating my point. In truth, common stocks are as individually different as people are individually different. When dealing with human beings, most reasonable thinking people would reject prejudicial statements. Personally, I believe we should have the same attitude about common stocks.

Instead of attempting to put them all in the same basket, I believe it is more rational and prudent to judge each common stock based on its own merits and attributes. This is why I continuously point out that it is a market of stocks and not a stock market. All stocks are not the same, therefore, they should not all be painted with the same broad brush. Consistent with this notion is that it also logically follows that not all investors are the same. Consequently, with these thoughts in mind, different strokes (stocks) for different folks (different goals, objectives and risk tolerances) is the more appropriate stance.

Time to Buy Out of Favour Stock ETF's Turkey, Gold, Brazil for 2014 ? / Companies / Investing 2014

By: David_Banister

The best time to buy cheap is when you are afraid to bring up your ideas around the water cooler at work for fear of the peer laughter. Our work centers on looking for oversold conditions and crowd behavioral anomalies that can give us better low risk entries with good upside potential. A combination of fundamentals and technical, combined with Elliott Wave Theory patterns can lead to nice profits with low risk.

For just a few quick ideas that would make sense in this area, we point out 3 ETF’s that you could look at entering now as they are way out of favor and very oversold.

All Aboard the Investor Wealth Rocket 2014 / Stock-Markets / Investing 2014

By: Money_Morning

Michael A. Robinson writes: New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite times of the year.

And not because I look forward to the lavish parties folks like to hold on that final night of the year.

In fact, I don’t party at all.

My wife and I have actually established a neat little ritual that lets us say adios to the outgoing year and to welcome in the new one by setting some goals for the one that’s coming in.

How Investors Can Profit From Battling Billionaires / Companies / Investing 2014

By: Money_Morning

Shah Gilani writes: Sure, the Herbalife game that pitted Bill Ackman against David Einhorn, Dan Loeb, Carl Icahn, and the rest of the billionaire boys' club was a tad bit personal.

It was also professional, very professional.

All the billionaires playing the Herbalife game are professional money managers. They made their mega fortunes in the markets.

Alexander Green writes: On Monday, we covered some of the worst investment ideas in Forbes‘ 2014 Investment Guide. Among these were forming a family limited partnership, plunking for an annuity, ignoring high mutual fund expenses, buying (overpriced) farmland, holding off on Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), and increasing your stock allocation after retirement (regardless of what it is).

Are Large-Cap Stocks the Place to Be in 2014? / Stock-Markets / Investing 2014

By: Profit_Confidential

Mitchell Clark writes: It can only be described as a huge vote of confidence. The Boeing Company (BA) announced a whopping 50% increase in its dividends to $0.73 per share. And beginning this January, the company will begin a new $10.0-billion share repurchase program, in addition to the $800 million left from its previous share buyback plan.

The higher quarterly dividend will be paid out March 7, 2014 to shareholders of record on February 14, 2014. While Boeing is playing some “payout catch-up” with other dividend paying stocks, company management said increasing cash flow from a boost in jetliner production is the catalyst for renewed confidence in its business.
