3 Graphics That Explain US-China Relations / Politics / China US Conflict

By: John_Mauldin

BY GEORGE FRIEDMAN : US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are meeting now at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Most meetings between world leaders are relatively unimportant.

This meeting is an exception, not because of whatever agreements or statements will emerge, but because of what it reveals about the current needs of the political administration of the world’s two largest economies.

3 Maps That Explain China’s Real Goal In The South China Sea / Politics / China US Conflict

By: John_Mauldin

There’s been a lot of media hype over China’s ongoing military buildup in the South China Sea. But as always, the truth lies beyond the headlines.

Chinese action has so far been largely contained to two island groups: the Spratly Islands and the Paracel Islands.

China Empire Investing Billions in the UK, £1 billion in Sheffield Alone, Good or Trojan Horse? / Politics / China US Conflict

By: Nadeem_Walayat

Sheffield's Labour run city council has been in celebratory mood since signing a deal in Chengdu for China to invest £1 billion pound in building projects across the city, apparently most will be city centre apartment blocks. Sheffield's Labour Council Leader declared "This is the biggest Chinese investment deal to be made by a UK city outside of London. And perhaps more importantly it is first deal of its kind to be made by a UK city, this is a real partnership."

China’s Maritime Moves Are Nothing More Than a Show of Strength / Politics / China US Conflict

By: John_Mauldin

BY GEORGE FRIEDMAN : The Chinese have a strategic problem in the South and East China Seas. China is obviously interested in what happens in these waters, but there is much speculation as to why the level of interest is so high.

The answer is simple: China wants to keep foreign powers away from its coast and away from waters vital to its global trade routes.

China’s greatest threat in these waters is the United States. Given the size of the US Navy and the location of the islands off China’s coast, the Navy is capable of blocking China's access to the ocean. This would deal a serious economic blow to China.

China South Sea Martime Dispute, an Overture to World War III? / Politics / China US Conflict

By: Casey_Research

By Doug Casey

It’s always been true, as Bourne said, that “war is the health of the State.” But it’s especially true when economic times get tough. That’s because governments like to blame their problems on outsiders; even an imagined foreign threat tends to unify opinions around those of the leaders. Since economies around the world are all weakening, and political leaders are all similar in essential mindset, there’s good reason to believe the trend towards World War III is accelerating.

Many politicians and pundits in the U.S. blame “those damn Chinese” for taking “our jobs” by filling Walmart with tons of cheap goods, and the swarthy ragheads for making the price of oil too high (usually, but now too low).

China May be Preparing for War to Rally the Country in Case of Recession / Politics / China US Conflict

By: Atlantic_Perspective

As the living standards improved in China for hundreds of millions of people. Instead of a grateful nation, the Chinese Communist Party got more demanding people. The more the Chinese people get, the more the Party is asked to deliver.

There is an unwritten agreement in China: the people will tolerate the Communist Party as long as there is strong economic growth. But what happens if the economy stalls, or worse still, contracts? War could be the answer.

Ready for World War III with China? / Politics / China US Conflict

By: BATR

"U.S. policy must create a climate in which a rising China is never tempted to use its growing power coercively within or outside the region."  - Richard Haas, chairman of the U.S. Council on Foreign Relations

With the constant drumbeat that Armageddon is imminent, it is easy to dismiss the geopolitical threats that pose a realpolitik danger. The prospects that definite weapons of mass destruction will engulf the planet in a nuclear winter are upon us once again. After the collapse of the Soviet evil empire, the Reagan - Gorbachev détente provided the world with one of its last hopes for restoring rational international relations. Regretfully, the last superpower used the defeat of the Marxist model of tyranny to impose their Pax American version of a global New World Order. The military machine of NATO, furnished with DARPA technology, would implement the NeoCon policy based upon the interest of the true masters behind the kosher approved empire.

Justin Raimondo poses the question: Are We On the Brink of World War III?
