Bernanke's Bubblenomics; Who Wins and Who Loses / Politics / Central Banks
Let's talk Bubbles.
Assets bubbles require massive amounts of leverage. But too much leverage can destabilize the system, so it needs to be regulated. But Wall Street doesn't like restrictions on leverage because it can make more money by borrowing like crazy, inflating a ginormous bubble, skimming off the profits, and cashing in before the crash. So, the Fed ignores Wall Street's "gearing" operations and pretends not to see what's going on. It becomes a bubble "enabler" by lowering interest rates, easing credit and waving-off tighter regulations. It's all part of the game. The Fed works to help its core constituents while everyone else is put at risk.

The U.S. is the World's Greatest Purveyor of Violence / Politics / US Politics
The greatest threat to Libyan sovereignty and independence is the United States of America. Nothing else comes close.
Gaddafi hasn't been targeted because he's a tyrant, but because he sits on an ocean of petroleum. That's what this is all about, right? If Libya's main source of wealth was car parts or coconuts, there never would have been a war.

New York Times, the Lying Mouthpiece for the Fed / Politics / Central Banks
On August 15, 1971, a Sunday, President Nixon unilaterally suspended the last traces of the gold standard. He "closed the gold window" on his own authority. From that time on, no government or central bank has been able to exchange dollars for Treasury gold at a fixed price. Nixon broke the Bretton Woods agreement of 1944. He broke the nation's word. He cheated. That was his way. Ever since that day, American monetary policy has been Nixonomics.

They Want Us to Love the Fed / Politics / Central Banks
I recently took time from criticizing the actions of the Federal Reserve System (and associating with my "End the Fed" friends) to attend a conference in New York City that was hosted by none other than the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. As much as anything, I was curious as to what goes on at a Fed conference, and it also gave me the chance to visit friends in the area and to appear on Judge Andrew Napolitano's show, Freedom Watch.

Even After Death, Bin Laden Continues to Serve his CIA Masters / Politics / Conspiracy Theory
As Washington and the CIA scramble to shore-up their official narrative this week, it is reported that “Al-Qaeda” has confirmed the death of its leader Osama Bin Laden, according to a statement attributed to the group.
Following predictable intelligence agency protocol, this scripted statement was posted on a series of seemingly random “jihadist” internet forums.

Was Killing Bin Laden a Military or a Media Operation? / Politics / US Politics
The tip on bin Laden’s whereabouts came in back in 2010. You have to assume the house was under surveillance. If they thought they “bagged him” they would be watching closely and choosing the right time to deep six the target (I actually wrote this lead paragraph sentence before reading this “Breaking News” from the Washington Post: “CIA had secret outpost in Abbottabad”).

The U.S. Is Editing 'The Killing of Osama' Film / Politics / US Politics
Jack D. Douglas writes: The first U.S. edited version of "The Killing Of Osama" made it look like one Seal found Osama and his wife in their third floor bedroom, the surprised and unarmed Osama used her as a shield so the Seal shot her first and then him. It did not seem to occur to them that this made the Seal both a coward – or a terrified incompetent – and a war criminal. By the second day they had edited this scene to have the wife rushing at the Seal, presumably scaring him witless, so he shot her and then shot the unarmed old Osama who was either sitting around or standing around doing nothing but, presumably, looking dumb.

The Agendas Behind the Bin Laden Death News Event / Politics / US Politics
The US government’s bin Laden story was so poorly crafted that it did not last 48 hours before being fundamentally altered. Indeed, the new story put out on Tuesday by White House press secretary Jay Carney bears little resemblance to the original Sunday evening story. The fierce firefight did not occur. Osama bin Laden did not hide behind a woman. Indeed, bin Laden, Carney said, “was not armed.”

Is the Myth of Osama bin Laden Still Alive? / Politics / US Politics
Maksim Shevchenko writes: Why has the almost-forgotten Osama bin Laden, the main reason the US has been campaigning in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past 10 years, been killed rather than seized?
Why has this news, with all its vicious detail, overshadowed the reports about daily bombings in Libya and Gaza? What opportunities does the elimination of Bin Laden open up to the US? Political expert, publicist and Russian Civic Chamber member Maksim Shevchenko discusses these questions with RT.

America has Turned Into a Moral Swamp / Politics / US Politics
What does the assassination of Osama Bin Laden have in common with Guantanamo Bay?
They're both intended to send a message that the United States has sunk deeper into savagery and abandoned any commitment to conventional norms of behavior. That's the message, and we hear it "loud and clear".

The Scariest Story Ever Told and False Flag Attacks / Politics / Social Issues
"The last human freedom is to be able to choose one's attitude to a given set of circumstances." - Dr. Viktor Frankl
Naomi Klein, author of The Shock Doctrine, recently gave a 20-minute lecture at a TED Conference about peak oil, climate change and the fundamental power of "stories". Institutional disciplines of all stripes, whether they are classified as religion, economics or "hard" sciences, constantly feed us tales about what we are and what we were meant to be. It is not necessary to know the specific details of her talk to follow along with this article, but I recommend readers take a look at it whenever they can find the time.

Bin Laden's Death Announcement Only Fuels the Mythology / Politics / US Politics
The mythology surrounding America’s public enemy number one took yet another bizarre turn this week as Washington announced that after ten years of searching they have finally located and killed their illusive adversary, Osama bin Laden. Unfortunately for US authorities, however, this latest media event has created far more questions than it has answers.

Federal Debt Burdens, How to Restore Fiscal Sanity in the United States / Politics / US Debt
One of the great privileges of traveling and speaking as I do is getting to meet a wide variety of very interesting people. Of late, I have become friends with David Walker, former Comptroller General of the US, who is now crisscrossing the country warning of the deficit crisis. It is a message that my book Endgame resonates with. If we do not bring the deficit down below the growth rate of nominal GDP, we become Greece. We hit an economic wall and everything collapses. It will be a real and true Depression 2.0. Fixing this is the single most important topic and task of our generation. If we do not, worrying about P/E ratios, moving averages, long-term investments - anything else, in fact - is secondary. Solve this and we can go back to the usual issues.

What Is The Real Significance of Bin Laden's Death? / Politics / Al-Qeeda
We asked a select group of senior executives in regard to the significance of Osama bin Laden's death from their perspective. We also asked: What are the consequences of this development? The perspective of Nigel Churton, vice-chairman of Control Risks Group, based in London, UK, is worth noting. He wrote the following for the ATCA 5000:
