No Road Map For Avoiding The Future / Politics / Social Issues

By: Andrew_McKillop

The Future Beckons – The Future Threatens
Talk about “road maps”, for example the decades-long roadmap for solving the Israel-Palestine conflict reveals several things. These roadmaps lead to nowhere and have lost all credibility. However, one important hidden role of these roadmaps is likely their proven ability to do nothing, waste time, and delay – but not avoid - the future.

Never Trust Anyone Over 30 / Politics / US Politics

By: Michael_T_Bucci

I had reason to rent a vehicle for a day trip to a doctor located some 75 miles from home. I could not help but see a resemblance in the young man taking my application - a college graduate - to journalist Glenn Greenwald. I told him so. He said he didn't know the name. A late fifty-something couple booking a car to Logan airport in Boston didn't know the name either. "Do any of you know the name Edward Snowden?" I asked. They nodded yes.

Israeli Government Paying Jewish Fundamentalist Students to Post Facebook Gaza War Propaganda / Politics / Israel

By: Global_Research

Ali Abunimah writes: The death toll in Gaza as of today, July 25, 2014, reaches 800.

Students at the IDC Herzliya “war room,” focus on posting propaganda justifying Israel’s attack on Gaza on Facebook.

As the death toll from Israel’s savage bombardment of Gaza continues to climb, Israel has once again turned to students to sell the slaughter online.

This audience is usually larger than the entire U.S population, and the anchors always give me more time than any other outlet in the world.

BBC, Western Media Working for Israeli Agenda of Perpetual War to Steal Arab Land / Politics / Mainstream Media

By: Global_Research

Media Lens writes: Soon after Malaysian Airlines MH17 crashed near Donetsk, Ukraine on July 18, killing 298 people, the BBC website quickly, and rightly, set up a ‘LIVE’ feed with rolling reports and commentary on the disaster. This was clearly an important and dramatic event involving horrific loss of life with serious political implications. The public would, of course, be searching for the latest news.

How Government Uses “Efficiency” as an Excuse to Steal / Politics / Government Intervention

By: MISES

Gary Galles writes: Scarcity makes efficiency — getting the most value from given resources —important. The more efficient individuals are, the more they benefit from their actions. That’s why economists are always talking about efficiency.

Unfortunately, some things said to be efficient are not. A major reason is that while efficiency is usually described in terms of mutual benefits, in public policy discussions, economists and governments who employ them actually use an efficiency standard known as “potential compensation.” In a nutshell, this means that the “winners” gain more than the “losers” lose, so that the winner could potentially compensate the loser enough that they would both come out ahead.

Ukraine: What To Do When Economic Growth Is Gone / Politics / Ukraine Civil War

By: Raul_I_Meijer

“The fact that the coalition has fallen apart, that laws haven’t been voted on, that soldiers can’t be paid, that there is no money to buy rifles, that there is no possibility to fill gas storages. What options do we have now?” This is, as per Bloomberg, what US handpicked handpuppet and – now former – Ukraine PM Yatsenyuk told the Kiev parliament earlier today during a speech in which he announced the resignation of his “government”. Several of his coalition partners, including right wing Svoboda, had left the government not long before.

The Five Elements to Creating a Something-for-Nothing Society / Politics / Social Issues

By: Ty_Andros

This week's TedBits is as important a commentary as any I have ever written in my 10+ years writing Austrian analysis of the unfolding world macroeconomics and geopolitical situation. It covers the origins, causes and destinations we are headed for, the participants, historical context and the future based upon past episodes: Past, present and future so to speak. I hope you enjoy it. Best wishes Ty.

The End Of Nations Or The End Of History? / Politics / GeoPolitics

By: Andrew_McKillop

Dancing at the Victims' Ball
By July 1794, with the surprise execution of ace executioner Maximilien de Robespierre, who himself had probably ordered more than 5000 killings by the then-newfangled and dreaded guillotine in the French revolution, faction rivalry akin to the type that sets Al Qaeda against ISIS in the Middle East today was so intense that a new wave of Terror was at hand. Called counter-revolution by some, and even the “death of History” by others, the call for Saving the Nation was going to be a powerful excuse for new purges, plots and bloody repression.

Israel's Suicide Bombers Over Gaza / Politics / Israel

By: Danny_Schechter

New York, New York: For years, the term “suicide bombers” has been synonymous with terrorist attacks, especially in Israel. The idea of a martyr willing to give his life for a cause while taking out an “enemy” became a feature of modern conflict especially with resistance movements confronting modern armies.

Oddly enough, the phrase, seems to have blown back today into Israel itself, as its military engages in a much deadlier “suicide mission,” acting like Ahab in Melville’s Moby Dick determined to slay the monster whale while killing themselves.

Ukraine MH17 Crisis - Best Remember Who Your Friends Are / Politics / GeoPolitics

By: Raul_I_Meijer

A very impressive procession of hearses, containing the first 40 of the 298 caskets that will have to be ‘processed’, is going on as I speak in Holland, and has been for hours of slow driving, broadcast on live national TV. It’s a 100 mile or so distance, with thousands upon thousands of people along the route paying respect, from the airport where they landed form Ukraine to the facilities where they’ll be identified.

What Putin Knows About Flight MH17 / Politics / Russia

By: Mike_Whitney

Putin Knows What Happened to MH17, But He's Not Saying--Yet ....

”We have repeatedly called on all parties to immediately stop the bloodshed and sit down at the negotiating table. We strongly believe that if military action in the East of Ukraine had not been renewed on the 28th of June, this tragedy wouldn’t have happened. However, no one has the right to use this tragedy to pursue their own political aims. Such events should unite and not divide people.”

Will Putin Survive? / Politics / Russia

By: Andrew_McKillop

From Khruschev to Putin
The chief editor of STRATFOR, George Friedman in a strangely eccentric article titled 'Can Putin Survive?' tells us he can't survive, but also says: “And the West no matter how opposed some countries might be to a split with Putin must come to grips with how effective and rational he really is”.

MH17 Crash Next Phase Economic Warfare / Politics / GeoPolitics

By: Raul_I_Meijer

Amidst the heightened media hysteria that expresses itself in claims of an “increasing burden of proof” of Putin and separatist involvement in the MH17 crash, where there is still no proof anywhere to be seen after 5 days, events are taking a sharp left (can’t bring myself to say ‘right’) turn towards a new, next, phase. Which promises to not be pretty. It’s, as we say, on.

Here are comments from three rightwing Israelis – two leading politicians and a professor – who very much reflect a strain of mainstream thinking in Israel, one that the international media largely avoids noting.

Beware Of The Flash Mob / Politics / Social Issues

By: Andrew_McKillop

Time Is Counted for the Elites
American writer Charles Johnson in his 1986 short-story collection 'The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: Tales and Conjurations' used different themes to describe the already six-year-long revolution, or so-called revolution of the Reagan-Thatcher duo. Its sociopathic agenda was most brutally stated by Britain's Mrs Margaret Thatcher. She said: “There is no such thing as society”. Only “the markets”.

By: STRATFOR

George Friedman writes: There is a general view that Vladimir Putin governs the Russian Federation as a dictator, that he has defeated and intimidated his opponents and that he has marshaled a powerful threat to surrounding countries. This is a reasonable view, but perhaps it should be re-evaluated in the context of recent events.

Israel Assault on Gaza: A Historic Crime, Nazi Like Final Solution / Politics / Israel

By: Global_Research

Patrick Martin and Barry Grey writes: At least 100 Palestinians were killed Sunday as Israel escalated its savage land, sea and air attack on Gaza. In a single neighborhood on the east side of Gaza City, Shejaiya, Israeli bombs and artillery shells killed at least 62 people and wounded nearly 300 others. Among the dead were 17 women, 14 children and four elderly people. The corpses of women and children lined the streets of Shejaiya as people fled on foot and in overloaded vehicles.

Zionist Israel an International Pariah / Politics / Israel

By: BATR

Gaza has become a slaughter zone for the eradication of Palestinians with the most advanced military technology that Israel posses. In comparison the blaming of Hamas for this latest barrage of rockets, fails to recognize any proposition in the mutual savagery. Depending on one’s view just who is the unlawful belligerent, sympathy and condemnation follows. This eternal struggle will never end peacefully. Debating international law, dissecting historic claims, strategizing military options, analyzing diplomatic intentions, and especially honoring superior doctrine among conflicting religious beliefs is a formula that offers no solutions. Yet, Israel is wedded to an expansionist political objective. Extending settlements prevent any permanent settlement agreement.
