Gold Junior Stocks Q3’16 Fundamentals / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Zeal_LLC

The junior gold miners’ and explorers’ stocks have been crushed in recent months, collateral damage from enormous gold-futures selling.  That’s naturally left investors and speculators extremely bearish on gold juniors.  But lost in all this technical and sentimental tumult are important fundamentals from the juniors’ recently-reported third-quarter financial and operational results, which proved quite strong and bullish.

The junior gold stocks are rightfully considered the Wild West of the gold sector.  Most of the hundreds and hundreds of these small companies won’t prove successful.  They won’t be able to secure funding to explore sufficiently, won’t be fortunate enough to find an economic deposit of gold to mine, or won’t be able to make the herculean leap from explorer to miner.  The odds are stacked heavily against the gold juniors.

What Does Trump Mean for Gold Investments? / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: The_Gold_Report

The market reaction to Trump's election victory—stocks and the dollar up, gold down—was the opposite of what had been widely foreseen. Money manager Adrian Day takes a look into what happened and why, and discusses the outlook going forward.

At the core of the market reaction are interest rates. Bonds declined sharply on the Trump victory. They had already been falling for the last several months, and the growing conviction of a rate increase in December stepped up the decline. Trump, with his grandiose spending and debt plans, only exacerbated that decline.

Gold Mining Stocks Screaming Buy! Q3’16 Fundamentals / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Zeal_LLC

The gold miners just finished reporting their third-quarter results, which proved very impressive.  While this small contrarian sector is now languishing in the doghouse following a brutal post-election selloff, the gold miners’ fundamentals are strengthening.  Lower costs and higher gold prices led to surging operating cash flows and profits.  The major gold miners are great fundamental bargains for contrarians today.

Gold-stock bulls are among the largest ever seen in all the markets.  The flagship HUI gold-stock index skyrocketed 1664% higher over 10.8 years ending in September 2011, trouncing general-stock-market losses of 14% per the S&P 500.  Even this year between mid-January and early August, the HUI soared 182% in just 6.5 months!  Radical wealth-multiplying upside like that is well worth any psychological price.

7 Gold & Silver Mining Companies to Buy Before the End of the Year / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: The_Gold_Report

Headline news results in rash decisions; don't let Trump's victory distract you from the bigger picture, says Matt Geiger of MJG Capital. He explains why now is an excellent time to deploy capital into mining equities and highlights seven companies poised to deliver outsized returns.

We are still in the early stages of a four- or five-year resource bull market. Those who own hard assets will be heavily rewarded; those exposed to the general stock market (or, god forbid, government debt) are in for a rude awakening. What we are witnessing is reversion to the mean after a five-year period in which commodity prices slumped as financial assets inflated in price. The tide has shifted, and Trump instead Hillary in the Oval Office will have little effect on this reality.

Precious Metals Complex Update... / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Rambus_Chartology

The inflection point in many of the different markets still continues to develop. The precious metals complex is approaching a very critical backtest to some important necklines we’ve been following. I added the GDXJ to the combo chart which shows the HUI, GLD, SLV and the GDXJ have all broken down below their respective necklines and are now in the process of backtesting those necklines from below. I can’t emphasize enough how critical this backtest is to the overall health of the impulse move out of the January low this year.

Gold, Miners Under Trump / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Zeal_LLC

Donald Trump’s epic underdog victory climaxing the US presidential race was radically unexpected by the great majority of the world.  Equally if not more surprising was the subsequent days’ market reaction.  Stock markets, gold, and gold-mining stocks did exactly the opposite of what was universally forecast for a Trump win.  This has left contrarian traders wondering how gold and gold stocks will likely fare under Trump.

Personally I’m thrilled and filled with hope for America with Donald Trump being our next president!  We desperately needed someone to overthrow Washington’s stranglehold on our lives.  In both our monthly and weekly newsletters published before Trump’s apparent upset, I took the contrarian stance explaining why Trump had far greater odds of winning than widely assumed.  The stock markets predicted a Trump win too!

More Weakness Ahead for Gold Stocks / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

The gold stocks continue to correct their epic +150% rebound that began in January and ran into the summer. Last week it was the poor relative strength in the miners that hinted the correction had more to go in both time and price. This week, it was the miners failure at a confluence of resistance, even with Gold trading above $1300, that argued for more weakness ahead. While most of the damage has already been done, our work argues for more weakness before a buying opportunity.

Precious Metals Stocks May Be Poised for a Major Upswing / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Clive_Maund

Technical analyst Clive Maund outlines why he believes the correction in gold and precious metals stocks is coming to an end.

It now looks like gold's correction is done and its intermediate base pattern is completing. If so, then we are at an excellent entry point for many better precious metals (PM) stocks, which have been savagely beaten down over the past several months—a necessary correction following their outsized run-up earlier in the year.

Negative Divergence in Gold Stocks Bodes for Lower Prices / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

You have heard it before from us and probably elsewhere. The miners lead Gold. We have seen this every major turn dating back 16 years and it can also be the case with respect to short and medium term trends. While the precious metals sector has rallied over the past few weeks, the rally has been weak and the gold stocks relative weakness in recent days bodes negatively for the sector.

Gold Stocks Winter Rally / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Zeal_LLC

The gold miners’ stocks have certainly had a wild ride this year.  After initially skyrocketing out of deep secular lows into a mighty new bull market, they recently suffered a massive correction climaxing in an extreme plummet.  This coincided with gold stocks’ major seasonal low in October.  That heralds their strongest seasonal rally of the year heading into and through winter, a very bullish omen for coming months.

Gold-stock performance is highly seasonal, which certainly sounds odd.  The gold miners produce and sell their metal at relatively-constant rates year-round, so the temporal journey through calendar months should be irrelevant.  Based on these miners’ revenues, there’s no reason investors should favor them more at certain times of the year than others.  Yet history proves that’s exactly what happens in this sector.

Diamonds in the Gold and Silver Mining Stocks / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Rambus_Chartology

Back in September we looked at a possible morphing Diamond on the GDXJ in which the dashed trendlines were showing the original Diamond. When it started to morph into the bigger Diamond I added the two red circles that showed the false breakouts from the original dashed Diamond. As you can see the last two weeks produced a rally that so far has failed below the apex of the morphing Diamond. From a Chartology perspective the Diamond is a reversal pattern as it has five reversal points.

It's Rally Time for Gold and Silver Equities / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: GoldCore

Precious metals expert Michael Ballanger discusses the uptick in gold and silver miners and the Deutsche Bank gold bullion settlement.

One of the more striking developments in the bizarro world of gold and silver trading has to be yesterday's settlement between Deutsche Bank and a class-action group that alleged that the bullion banks (DB, Scotia and HSBC) were manipulating the physical and Comex silver futures market since 2007; what is laughable and disgusting is the size of the settlement—$38 million. It's like Lee Harvey Oswald being charged with "Assault with a Deadly Weapon" and winding up with a misdemeanor. Then again, it is really no different than Libor-rigging or the sub-prime mortgage fraud or more recently the Wells Fargo scam.

Gold Stocks Corrections in Bull Markets / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Jordan_Roy_Byrne

The gold stocks are clearly in correction mode. The large caps (HUI, GDX) have corrected 30% while the juniors (GDXJ) have held up well in comparison by correcting the same amount. Given a number of factors (the size of the previous advance, the recent technical damage, stronger US$ index and rising yields) the gold stocks should continue to correct and consolidate in a larger sense. To gauge a potential path forward we present a new analog chart and compare the current correction to those from past markets.

Gold Stocks Screaming Buy / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Zeal_LLC

The gold miners’ stocks are suffering from universal and overwhelming bearishness today, with nearly everyone expecting further selling.  That’s the natural reaction following this sector’s recent massive correction, which climaxed in one of its biggest daily plummets ever witnessed.  But within bull markets, there’s no better time to buy aggressively than deep in a major selloff that’s riddled with great doubt and fear.

The core mission of speculation and investment is so simple even children can easily grasp it, buy low sell high.  The great challenges arise not from understanding, but execution.  Actually buying low then selling high in real markets is exceedingly unnatural and uncomfortable.  It requires traders to overcome their own greed and fear to do the exact opposite of everything their own instincts are screaming to do.

Gold and Silver PM Stocks Indices at an Emotionally Challenging Juncture / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Rambus_Chartology

This past week there was some panic selling in the PM complex which is what we need to see happen to put in an important low. The HUI hit the 50% retrace at 195 for this first leg up in its new bull market, just under 200, which is an important physiological round number. Many times investor will place their sell/stops just under a round number like 40, 50 or 200 for instance, thinking if a stock drops below that important round number it’s time to exit that position. Many times a drop below these round numbers can be the reversal point for the next rally in the case of an uptrend.

Gold Bugs Great News - COT Report Playing Out As Usual, Means Lower Then Much Higher Prices Coming / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: John_Rubino

This year’s recovery in precious metals prices – and the sudden spike in gold/silver mining stocks – convinced a lot of people that a new bull market had begun. Last week’s brutal smack-down scared the hell out of many of the same folks.

The latest commitment of traders (COT) report implies that we should all relax. Things are playing out pretty much according to a script that’s been in place for decades — and which points to happy times by early next year.

Gold’s, Miners’ Stops Run / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Zeal_LLC

Gold, silver, and their miners’ stocks plummeted out of the blue this week, shattering their bull-market uptrends.  Gold-futures speculators had been holding excessive long positions for months, weathering all kinds of selling catalysts.  But once gold slipped through key support, long-side futures stop losses started to trigger unleashing cascading selling.  Understanding this event and its implications is crucial for traders.

This week’s precious-metals carnage was a big surprise, erupting suddenly with no technical warning.  Gold had been faring quite well after hitting its latest interim high of $1365 in early July.  That was driven by heavy fund buying of gold-ETF shares in the wake of late June’s unexpected pro-Brexit vote.  After those big capital inflows dried up, gold consolidated high.  At worst by late August it had pulled back 4.1% to $1308.

Gold Mining Shares in a World of Hurt / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Dan_Stinson

The HUI is coming unglued on the charts with the index falling below long term chart support at the 200 day moving average in today’s session. It had not been below that key technical indicator since early February of this year.

We are also now seeing the 50 day moving average and the 100 day both moving lower.

Projecting The Consolidation in Precious Metals Mining Stock Indices / Commodities / Gold and Silver Stocks 2016

By: Rambus_Chartology

Tonight I would like to start off the Wednesday Report by looking at our current bull market in the HUI. I’m going to try and show you how our current setup is what one would expect in a bull market.

A stock or stock market does one of three things. First, it’s building out a reversal pattern that will reverse the current trend. Second, it’s building out a consolidation pattern that is consolidating the current trend. Third, the price action is impulsing after breaking out of either a reversal pattern or consolidation pattern. This is how markets works.
