Stock Market Manipulation and Gold Trading / Stock-Markets / Market Manipulation

By: Clif_Droke

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleOur recent commentary on the subject of market manipulation elicited a wide range of feedback, pro and con. Some respondents agreed with my assertion that, assuming the existence of market manipulation, it doesn’t preclude one’s ability to successfully navigate financial markets with a reliable technical discipline. Others expressed the view that manipulation and government/central bank interference in the market make it untenable for small traders to be participants.

Brazilian Bovespa Stock Market Index, Dead Money? / Stock-Markets / Brazil

By: Guy_Lerner

Figure 1 is a monthly chart of the Brazilian Bovespa Index. The indicator in the lower panel measures the number of negative divergence bars occurring between price and an oscillator that measures that price action. Negative divergence bars are the price bars with pink markers on them.

Investors Greater Rewards From Investing Abroading / Stock-Markets / Investing 2010

By: John_Browne

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticlePresident Obama's State of the Union message only serves to reinforce my forecast that investors will continue to find better returns in markets outside America and in currencies other than the U.S. dollar. Indeed, the reward gap may well increase.

Stock & Commodity Markets Warning, January Barometer Points to Bear Markets / Stock-Markets / Stocks Bear Market

By: Gary_Dorsch

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleBeware! It was a cold January on Wall Street. The S&P-500 Index lost 3.7% of its value in January, the biggest monthly setback in a year’s time, succumbing to heavy selling, especially after US President Barack Obama and his economic adviser Paul Volcker, shocked the markets, by calling for stricter limits on the “proprietary trading,” activities of Wall Street’s titans, - aiming to rein-in their ability to buy and sell commodities, derivatives, and equities for their own accounts.

Gold, Silver, the Dow, and S&P 500, People are Still Asking “What the Heck is Going On?” / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: J_Derek_Blain

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThis morning, I watched a video of the CEO of Gold Fields, Mr. Nick Holland, expressing his surprise at Soro's recent statement that gold is the "ultimate bubble".  Mr. Holland said that almost every other market “expert” (my sarcastic quotes) he talked to had a vastly different opinion of the metal - that it was "fundamentally sound" etc.

The Financial Crisis Is Not Over / Stock-Markets / Credit Crisis 2010

By: Paul_Craig_Roberts

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleReaders ask if the financial crisis is over, if the recovery is for real and, if not, what are Americans’ prospects. The short answer is that the financial crisis is not over, the recovery is not real, and the U.S. faces a far worse crisis than the financial one. Here is the situation as I understand it:

Stock Market Bullish Participation Level Slowly Declines / Stock-Markets / Stock Market Sentiment

By: Donald_W_Dony

In the February Newsletter, I mentioned that the high level of bullish participation was expected to gradually wane starting in February. The extra high percent (85% to 92%) of stocks on the NYSE Composite trading above their 200-day moving averages was not sustainable. Fledgling bulls markets typically display this high range during the first year and then drift lower into a 80% to 50% band in the second year. The NYSE appears to be following the standard path.

Stock Market Bulls Bears Battle Lines Are Set Up... / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Jack_Steiman

The bulls lost those important 20- and 50-day exponential moving averages nearly two weeks ago and are now in the process of trying to back test and break back through. The real question on everyone's mind is whether the market is broken for good or whether the market is going to roar back and March higher. Good cases can be made for both sides to be fair. The bears can claim that the market made its first breakdown out of an initial thrust down in now over one year. That was a nice change of trend for them. The bulls will counter with the fact that we were very overbought and thus one initial break lower isn't anything to be overly concerned about as long as that move lower helped unwind the overbought daily oscillators and also as long as the market created some fear among investors and traders.

By: Tony_Sagami

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleTwenty-five hundred of the world’s most influencing corporate and government leaders gathered in the Alpine ski resort of Davos, Switzerland last week.

They weren’t there for skiing, although I’m sure some did. What these world leaders gathered in Davos for was the 40th World Economic Forum.

Stock Market Warning Signs to Watch / Stock-Markets / Stock Markets 2010

By: Claus_Vogt

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe stock market does not turn on a dime. At least historically that’s been the case.

Take Japan as an impressive example …

At 10,300 the Nikkei is now 74 percent below its all time high of December 1989. On the long way down it has experienced many cyclical rallies, some of them amounting to gains of more than 100 percent!

China’s Economy and Stock Market Leading Us Again… Downward / Stock-Markets / Chinese Stock Market

By: Graham_Summers

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleMuch of the talk of economic recovery has hinged on China’s growth “miracle.” Indeed, while the rest of the world slipped into recession or worse, China has somehow managed to produce GDP growth of 8%, a staggering figure when you consider that roughly 40% of the Chinese economy hinges on exports… and the rest of the world is undergoing a massive state of deleveraging (and purchasing less).

Gaining Insight Into Stock Market Movements / Stock-Markets / Stock Index Trading

By: Jack_Steiman

All you can do is learn. We had a very intense move lower on the indexes across the board led by the technology stocks. In good markets the technology stocks lead up and in bad markets they tend to lead down as the appetite for beta is always there when things are trending one way or the other. Off the top there was no question that beta led down although we are not seeing beta lead up on this particular move which is somewhat interesting.

Financial Markets Outlook 2010, When Hope Turns To Fear / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: Ty_Andros

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleCurrencies, Bombs... er, Bonds and Banks are ALL Rotten to their Core.

This is the epicenter of the unfolding financial crisis and inflationary/deflationary depression. The developed world is BANKRUPT and the policies of INSOLVENCY are entrenched in its leaders and citizens in such a way as to make the final destination of financial system destruction UNAVOIDABLE. The "something for nothings" in the developed world are firmly in control of the electoral process and their constituencies continue to grow as the global financial crisis crushes their incomes and future prospects. Taxes are headed far higher, thus transferring capital from the private economies (where jobs and incomes are created and where production exceeds consumption) to the public sector which has no idea what cost-benefit analysis is and consumes much more than it produces.

Risk Weighted Capital Adequacy: The Elephant In The Davos Jacuzzi / Stock-Markets / Market Regulation

By: Andrew_Butter

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleOne of the “pillars” of financial regulation is the idea of risk weighting.

The way that works is that “assets” which in the case of banks are typically either loans to other people or securities held by the bank like US Treasuries or Sub-prime RMBS (the Brits call those bonds), are assigned a risk weighting by the regulator.
