Quit Social Media and Simplify Your Life... Like Me!
Politics / Social Media Mar 02, 2020 - 01:17 PM GMT After a crazy and busy week at Anarchapulco, I’m happy to be spending some much needed alone time in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, with the family.
As I have spent some time reading and decompressing, I thought to myself that I really need to make some serious changes in my life.
All of a sudden, the other day, the name Howard Hughes popped into my head which led me to do a quick bit of research about his life out of curiosity.
Almost eerily synchronistically, I stumbled upon the fact that Howard had spent the later years of his life holed up in the penthouse suite at the Princess hotel in Acapulco – in complete solitude.
My jaw dropped when I heard this because this was exactly the same room where I was staying as I read this.
Coincidentally, I share a few similarities with the famous billionaire aviator.
As it turns out, just like me, Hughes’ really enjoyed being in seclusion. He of course, was a little bit more reclusive, and a paranoid hypochondriac – neither of which I can relate to being, however we do have some similar qualities.
In general, I have never really enjoyed being around other people and after thinking more deeply about this fact, I realized, why would I want to be around people on the internet either?
The answer is I’d prefer not to be. And why should I continue torturing myself with putting on an event like Anarchapulco that just leads to me drinking more than I should for the span of a week.
I have come to realize some changes have to be made and that I need to get off of social media.
Principally Facebook, but the others as well.
I’ve had enough with the relentless drama that comes with it all. Not only is it time-consuming, but I’m also not benefiting at all from watching all these other people’s lives unfold before me on the internet. At the end of the day, it’s nothing but a distraction.
From now on, I’ve decided that I’m going to spend more time doing what I really love and enjoy; like being with the family, doing walks and talks with the dogs, playing poker & chess and watching hockey.
Plus, I really want to shift my focus back to improving my personal health and wellness, an area that I’ve been continually improving upon over the course of the last few years.
More likely than not, if I do end up keeping my Facebook account for instance, I’ll probably only use it to publish my personal interests as I please, rather than using it to keep up with the lives of others.
Actually, I really implore everyone to take a look at their social media usage and ask themselves if it’s really serving them to improve their lives.
Another big change I’m toying with is terminating Anarchast after 9 years and 500+ episodes. I have come to realize, I get almost no enjoyment out of it.
With all this being said, one thing I will continue doing and being passionate about is the Dollar Vigilante.
Except now, in addition to talking about finance and crypto on this channel, I’m planning on starting to incorporate different subject matter like spirituality, the anarchic attributes of hockey, and health and wellness related information.
The only boundary I have set for myself is that I no longer will read the comments. Anything I end up publishing now is just something that I care about and I don’t even want to know if anyone liked it or not.
I’m still undecided about the future of Anarchapulco and Anarchast, but stay tuned to TDV to watch the evolution of the channel and to, of course, keep receiving the most up-to-date financial analysis and cryptocurrency investment tips.

We’re all constantly evolving, but at TDV some things will never change; our belief in Austrian economics and our passion for writing and providing great analysis in our newsletters being two examples of that.
With that, always remember that taxation is theft and statism is a violent religion.
