GCSE Exam Results 2017, Top Marks at Silverdale School, Sheffield
Politics / Education Aug 26, 2017 - 01:55 PM GMTIt was GCSE exam results day on Thursday when Britain's 16 year olds found out if they achieved their expected GCSE grades allowing them to move up the education ladder to A Levels and vocational training on the path towards saddling themselves with £60,000 of student debt at University, but for most that's still 2 years away.
Silverdale Secondary School consistently ranks as one of Sheffield's best schools as the following table illustrates. So one would expect Silverdale's students to achieve results that are better than average for the city and country. Even though this year the Maths and English exams were significantly more difficult than in years past due to the change in grading to 9 to 1 from A* to G, where 4 is roughly equivalent to a C, and an A equates to a 7, with A* an 8 and the much more difficult 9 grades that were only awarded to some 2000 students in Maths or English.
So here's taste of results day at one of Sheffield's best ranked state schools, Silverdale, of what it was like for Britain's 16 year olds on GCSE exam results day. Off early to school but not too early to avoid the initial mad dash to collect the exam results. Find out if this 16 year old, one of 200 in the Silverdale school year manages to achieve initial parental expectations for a 9 in maths and at least 4 additional A*'s.
Well done to Adnaan and well done to all of the teachers at Silverdale School for their hard work - "Top, Top, Top Marks!"
