World Seeks Geo-political Balance as Americans Remain Indifferent to Iraq War

Politics / GeoPolitics Aug 23, 2008 - 04:42 AM GMT

By: Michael_T_Bucci

Politics I must take issue with the common assumption that a majority of Americans were and are opposed to the Iraq war, or are in large measure "anti-war". While it is true that the Democrat party winning majorities in both houses generated this conception in 2006, this victory had much to do with protesting George Bush on numerous issues, one being Iraq .

Moreover, if opposition to the Afghanistan/Iraq occupations were sincerely felt, and if those voters showed even a passive interest in the workings and legislature that commenced under Nancy Pelosi, a more vigorous accountability would have been demanded of Democrats after both Houses proceeded to put "impeachment off the table" and rubber stamped the President. The "People" didn't revolt over this betrayal; they remained quiescent!

Democrats were neither then nor now an opposition party to the ruling status quo. Obama is an extension of Democrat Party collaboration with transnationals, private wealth, Wall Street and the Pentagon, while serving as a wish fulfillment hologram to Liberals and some Left of Center.

I stated in a June article that an international "serious incident" would occur within two months. It did: Georgia . I stated in an essay in March that Americans would be ready for major war by November. The momentum is steering the nation in this direction. I disagree with those who claim "a majority of Americans are against the war". If true, a majority in each party would countenance nominees who spoke for peace and justice, or at least for rationalism. In reality, both parties have selected contenders that vie over war.

We must remember that Americans are purposely kept unaware of events and opinions that contradict or challenge the official transcript. The media has constructed an Iron Curtain of misinformation, disinformation and propaganda that rivals that of Joseph Goebbels and Stalin - with Karl Rove as Minister of Enlightenment. The internet remains an open channel for free thought (for however long) to those courageous enough to plumb opinion and views outside of the box of mainstream thinking. But mainstream thinking grips like a manacle the general population, and freedom of thought is more often unexercised (from fear).

While the geopolitics of Russian and American relations currently are placed on the front windshield, there remains the grave reality of economic collapse presently relegated to the back seat. What Americans "don't know" about South Ossetia, Georgia and Putin, or the thinking of Russians and Europeans vis-à-vis this matter, they neither know about Wall Street, and Treasury Department bail-outs of banks rather than people. In short, no one has been told the truth for a very long time. No one wishes to tell the truth and no one wishes to hear it. Americans are living in a Disneyland-reality by choice - one that is about to destroy itself or be destroyed. The ball room dancers on the Titanic are reveling under chandeliers that are swaying. The rich go first into the lifeboats. They are told before the others. There remain few rafts for those in Third Class. For the ship was "unsinkable"; and the company saved money.

If authorities directly told Americans that they could not win multiple wars: simultaneous ones waged against Russia , China and Islam; or told its nation was bankrupt and indebted to countries it demonizes; or told they have been obligated to pay the debts of its investment bankers for generations, would she listen? Did Americans listen about Vietnam or Kent State ? Were truth and morality ever more important than money, materialism and power?

It is a very dangerous time for Americans to be without truth - especially without truth about themselves. Yet, they wish to remain deaf and submissive. If so, there is every possibility that Americans will embrace expanded wars and future wars, for this is the design of her present and future leaders. If so, it is a very dangerous time for this world that must react to an omnipresent military controlled by leaders who serve neither truth nor morality.

But the world is aware and cautious of an America that Americans know not. The world now wishes balance and is beginning to seek it. For Americans, they must face themselves and soon will. In this confrontation there will be domestic combat. When all is finished, America must rediscover its endowed identity, what it stands for, and how it wishes to be reborn. But time will tell the truth of the matter. For now, vigilance and self-protection against a railing defiant monster intent on destruction is the advice. There is no gain in dying to teach others what they must learn themselves. Nor in saving those who cannot save themselves. Nor in writing again the same anguish and angst for those who share that pain. Those who see, already do. Those who don't may. But no words can give truth like experience. Be it so that one takes comfort in the watch and not the fight. It is theirs, not yours.

And this is the "message": Throughout the coming turbulence, be peaceful instead.

That is a victory, is it not?
