Emmanuel Macron vs Marine Le Pen Round 2 - Can BrExit Factor Deliver Le Pen Victory?
Politics / France Apr 23, 2017 - 09:13 PM GMTFrance is heaving a temporary sigh of relief as the nightmare scenario of a far right Le Pen vs a far left Melenchon round 1 win failed to materialise, instead that which has always been most probable has come to pass, where the two candidates with the most votes going into the second and final round of the French Presidential election will be centrist Emmanuel Macron (23.8%) vs far right Marine Le Pen (21.7%).
Note these are projected percentages as the counting is still underway i.e. the final gap between Macron and Le Pen will likely tighten and may even reverse by the time all of the votes have been counted.
Market Reaction
Literally expect a relief rally for the Euro, stocks and the French / Euro bond markets. Relief that the doomsday scene rio of far left Melenchon vs far right Le Pen failed to materialise.
