Donald Trump is just an ugly intermission between acts

Mr. Trump, you have no mandate. You not only lost the popular vote by two million but the disparity between the popular vote and Electoral vote was historically unprecedented.

What you have is a constituency that mostly voted for radical change and who seem gleefully unaware that similar ultra-right, populist movements in the last century produced Hitler, Mussolini, Franco and, in recent decades, third-world banana republic thugs underwritten by Wall Street and the State Department for the purpose of dismantling social democracies to enrich private corporations, bankers and oligarchic nationalists.

And by the way, let’s be clear for once. Those fascists were on the Right, not Left. Does that shoe fit? How many more comparisons need to be made between you and them? Honestly ...

You have few young people to enlist in your anti-culture campaigns; they seem better inclined to assemble in street protests against you. Young people cheered Bernie, not you! You are just an ugly intermission between shifting gears. You put the car in reverse instead of third in order to go back in time. They – the youth – see only the future. Their time will come after you finish your one-act play.

You can’t even boast of graduating from that oh-so-elitist Wharton. The alumni signed letters of protest distancing them from you and what you stand for – a sentiment shared by many students of Trump University. You can “stiff” some of them some of the time, but not all of the time. So far, you’re on a roll. But the house (constitutional democracy) always wins in the end. “Not good.”

The ghosts of Joe McCarthy, Roy Cohn, Richard Nixon, left-over tricksters from CREEP – not forgetting any mobsters you say you never met – are ecstatic. “Exuberant” is the mood on Wall Street. In a matter of months, you’ll make Ronald Reagan look like a liberal and Ayn Rand a bleeding-heart. The complete take-over of government by the corporate and financial elite is finally at hand with your little fingers on the nuclear button.

But you should worry about the sinking bond market too! Oh my! Higher interest rates mean higher just about everything. And what about your protectionist policies on trade? You’ll cut a good deal, you think. China needs to be taught a lesson, even if Walmart prices do jump 40%. After all, the Chinese are the people who gave us that phony “climate change” propaganda that never got traction.

Frankly, one would be a darn fool to think you won’t employ what you’ve learned from the best. Enemy lists. House on un-Trumptilian activities. Blacklisting. Book, movie and theatre censorship. Press suppression ... all taught to you by the master himself, Roy Cohn.

Also, you should thank past administrations for gifting you the means to keep godless liberals, progressives, socialists, journalists, artists, actors, writers, feminists, Marxists, atheists and humanists under their beds by militarized police, armed alt-rightists, and dragnet surveillance – all yours.

Maybe Putin will be spared a NATO invasion and regime change by Hillary (“low energy”), but the American people get the Trumptilian experience as the world gets to rearrange itself around the new New World, headquarters in Asia.

My question to you and your Republican party is this: Now that the opposition has been vanquished, who’s left to blame? Without the threat of Obama taking away guns, won’t firearm sales plummet? Won’t Rush, O’Reilly and Hannity ratings collapse without “librals” and Marxists to scapegoat?

Did you hear Michele Bachmann gushing? She said your victory was God answering the pleas of “prayer warriors”. “We saw the Lord answer so specifically that only the hand of God could do that,” she chimed. They’ll be expecting miracles from you, Donald. What do you have in mind?

What will become of Fox News – the Murdoch press that created your constituency? Maybe three-quarters of the staff – closet alt-rightists - will leave for Breitbart where hate-in-the-raw can be better monetized. As for Megyn, she’s a lawyer. Be careful!

But this I don’t understand: Melania sues a blogger but not the biographer he quoted; you threaten to sue the entire press but you let Murdoch get away with printing nude shots of the next First Lady in the New York Post?

Donald, when you hit “reality”, as President Obama predicts, your battle will be with Republicans.

There is an expression, “When evil fights evil, the good can result.” Maybe the “miracle” you’ll perform is a complete transformation of yourself into a caring, compassionate human who clothes the naked, feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless, provides universal health care to rich and poor and guarantees a livable wage for all workers.

That miracle will disappoint many who have turned the party of Lincoln into the party of John Wilkes Booth, but it will surely get you into Heaven.
