The stock market indices started the day out on a positive note, and then sold off dramatically, taking the Nasdaq 100 from 4526 down to 4497 in a 3-wave, constructive pullback. The S&P 500 pulled back from 2103 to 2089. A very later, 45-minute rally took place and brought the Nasdaq 100 up 30 points and the S&P 500 10 points. A last, 2-minute pullback brought them off that rally high, and they closed mixed on the day.

Net on the day, the Dow was down 86.09 at 17,787.13, the S&P 500 was down 2.11 at 2096.95, and the Nasdaq 100 was up 11.35 at 4523.89.

Advance-declines were about 260 issues positive on the New York Stock Exchange, and about 350 issues positive on the Nasdaq. Up/down volume was 23 to 20 positive on New York, total volume of 4.4 billion shares traded. The Nasdaq traded 2 1/4 billion shares and had a 7 to 4 positive volume ratio.

TheTechTrader.com board was very mixed, but mostly higher. Priceline.com (PCLN) was down 8.67 to 1264.33, Apple Inc. (AAPL) down just 53 cents to 99.82, and Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) lost by small amount, down 73 cents to 102.57. Google Inc. (GOOG) jumped 3.06 to 735.72, Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) gained 10.55 to 722.79.

Baidu, Inc. (BIDU) dropped 6.47 to 178.54, Facebook, Inc. (FB) opened well, but tumbled 57 cents to 118.81, and First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) was down a quarter to 49.65.

Tesla Motors, Inc. (TSLA) was positive by 19 cents to 223.23 today.

Other stocks on the upside included Editas Medicine Inc. (EDIT), up 1.87 to 37.09, and Juno Therapeutics Inc. (JUNO) up 1.39 to 43.43.

The Direxion Daily S&P Biotech Bull 3X ETF (LABU) jumped 2.21 to 36.62.

Checking the TheTechTrader.com percent-gain leaderboard, Genocea Biosciences, Inc. (GNCA) popped 72 cents to 4.70, or 18%, on 1.5 million shares. FuelCell Energy Inc. (FCEL) ran 86 cents to 7.65, or 13%, on 1.3 million shares. Minerva Neurosciences, Inc. (NERV) climbed 98 cents to 12.30, or 9%, on 3.5 million shares.

B.O.S. Better Online Solutions Ltd. (BOSC), the big gainer today, climbed 1.90 to 4.07, or 88%, on 21 million shares traded. That was a huge, a 14,600% increase in volume. Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (CLF) advanced 1.21 to 4.28, or 29%, on 45.9 million shares.

Flexion Therapeutics, Inc. (FLXN) bounced 1.91 to 17.44, or 12%. Tata Motors Limited (TTM) jumped 3.69 to 33.49, or 12%, on 7.4 million shares traded.

The VelocityShares 3x Long Natural Gas ETN (UGAZ) gained 3.41 to 24.96, or 16%, on 12.1 million shares. The VelocityShares 3x Long Natural Gas ETN (UGAZ), which we traded jumped 3.41 to 24.96, or 16%, on 12 million shares.

The Direxion Daily Jr Gld Mnrs Bull 3X ETF (JNUG) popped 8.73 to 107.85.

Stepping back and reviewing the hourly chart patterns, the indices were up early, down all day, until the last hour when they rallied back sharply to close mixed on the session.
