Assassins Creed Rush To War In Ukraine-Crimea

The current Russian invasion underway in Ukraine has the rationale of defending Russophone and Russian-oriented populations, firstly in Crimea and probably after that, in eastern Ukraine. Claims of this being “outright illegal” have been screamed out by Western politicians and media from the moment the Kiev Flash Mob government emerged out of the smoldering debris and dead bodies littering downtown Kiev. Absolutely no voting was needed to “consecrate” the Flash Mob government and laud it in Western chancelleries and the White House. Absolutely not needed.
It was a fait accompli overthrow of an elected government, corrupt and incompetent or not. The same happened to the also-elected and incompetent Morsi government in Cairo, but Obama's White House did not invite the Egyptian coup leaders to visit Washington and call for US military support to fight neighbor countries. Obama's White House, like Angela Merkel's chancellery did not offer to back the new Cairo Flash Mob government every way it could, in its urge to fight neighboring countries which the coup leaders, in any case, did not brandish as their main aim in life. They only want to oppress their own Egyptian population, using Saudi petrodollars to pay for their civil war party.
Western media has saturated the airwaves with the claim of High Moral Superiority against Russian speaking and Russian ethnic populations in Crimea and the Ukraine. They must obey the Kiev Flash Mob government, or else. This is a test of civilization!
Still today, but declining all the time, US soldiers are strutting in Afghanistan more than 12 years after George W. Bush ordered the military invasion of the country and overthrow of its Talibans, who the White House and its tame media told us, had made “five jetliners disappear” in the US. Two or three of them, the White House and its loyal media also told us, crashed on various targets inside the US. At least 2 seemed to disappear forever, along with their passengers, Malaysian Airlines style. An awful lot of persons do not believe the story at all, and even more disbelieve large parts of this heroic fairy tale – and therefore regard the US invasion of Afghanistan, yipped along by countries like Germany, the UK and France, as purely and simply illegal.
Any so-called Moral High Ground in the Ukraine-Crimea crisis, by the same war-crazed artistes who gave us the Afghanistan war, Iraq invasion, the Kosovo war against Serbia, and similar war crimes, is a fake. The hundreds of thousands of dead and massive economic destruction in these “dirty little wars” cancels out any Moral High Ground the same war artistes claim they have, facing Putin.
Paternal Dictators or the Flash Mob?
Putin has himself opined that the end of the USSR “was a disaster for Russia”. His official knowledge of the Stalin years, Malenkov years, Krushchev years, Brezhnev years, and the Andropov-to-”Gorby” run out as the USSR collapsed is highly patriotic. It is Russian folk myth dressed as facts. There is no point discussing it, no more point than asking Obama why he runs a Dirty Drone War.
Putin can in several ways be presented as a Paternal Dictator – for Russians if not Chechens – due very simply to high oil and gas prices, lifting his economy the same way it bolsters the unelected, ever-more-aggressive ruling clique of Saudi Arabia. Without that prop, the local Flash Mob would become very hard to manage, that is to brutalize and beat down.
As we know from Egypt, there is no guarantee and no certainty that a Flash Mob uprising will improve anything at all. In the Egypt case, the country slumped back into Saudi-paid military rule. In the Ukrainian case, the Kiev “government”, apart from being unelected, is also war-hungry against Russia. Aiding and abetting that revenge-hungry quest is the worst possible form of external interference in the interference games of other countries playing other tunes. Of course war tunes.
The reasons for the kneejerk call in European chancelleries for “powerful action” against Putin, like the American call, is shot through with bad faith, hypocrisy and fear. Plenty of European nation states are on the cusp of break-up themselves. Scotland and Wales can separate from England. Catalonia and Euskadia from Spain, Wallonie from Belgium, or the Northern League from the rest of Italy, the same way that Slovakia separated from the Czech Republic, by referendum. The precedents are there.
Or they can separate by Flash Mob action. Setting any kind of limit to this separation is always dangerous, as the Europeans found out in Africa when they decolonized, leaving unnatural countries with unreal frontiers behind them – which sink into civil war on a regular basis.
The role of the economy in this is the background music that either accelerates or slows the break-up story. When the economy falls apart, revolution is all that much easier. In the Ukraine case, with an already-destroyed economy by permanent corruption in the few years since 1991 when the country seceded from the collapsed Soviet Union, we can be rather sure the flames of separatism will burn bright, and the Europeans fanning them will get their fingers burnt.
