Higgs Boson God Particle Mass for the Inflationary Universe Explained, Economic Implications

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleThe Higgs Boson so called "God" particle has been purported to have been discovered just prior to the Christmas holidays by scientists at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It might seem rather odd that scientists have introduced 'god' into the equation, however given by the media coverage that was never apparent during the discovery of the other elementary particles, the "God" particle has proved a useful media marketing tool to promote the discovery to the mainstream media and the ordinary masses.

All scientific discoveries are important and none more so than those involving quantum physics, why ? because it is quantum physics theories and discoveries of the 1930's that have resulted in the progression to today's powerful computing devices, and so will it be for ongoing discoveries and solutions to aspects of the standard model theory that will lead to tomorrows quantum computers, devices the processing power of which we cannot even imagine today, for instance our brains have approx 100 billion neurons, which roughly compares to the processing power of a 10 trillion transistor chip (current max is about 2 billion), that will only likely be possible with the advent of atom sized transistor based micro-processors, (off course that and being structured as a multidimensional self ordering / learning neural nets). Therefore this is the industry from where the likes of the next Tek giant will emerge and investors need to be clued up on, else miss the next Intel, Microsoft, Google and Apple combined.

Higgs Boson: How to Detect its Existence - Latest Update

Fermilab scientist Don Lincoln describes the concept of how the search for the Higgs boson is accomplished. The latest data is revealed! Several large experimental groups are hot on the trail of this elusive subatomic particle which is thought to explain the origins of particle mass.

The Standard Model of Particle Physics The Higgs Field Mechanism Explained

Stephen Hawkins Alternative View

Stephen Hawkins amongst other physicists does not believe in the existence of the Higgs Boson, he in fact made a highly public bet that the LHC would never find the Higgs Boson particle, his alternative model relies on micro black holes to explain particle mass.

BBC Today

"I think it will be much more exciting if we don't find the Higgs. That will show something is wrong, and we need to think again. I have a bet of $100 that we won't find the Higgs."

The big picture bottom line is this we are on an exponential curve of understanding and innovation that will more than offset today's headline debt crisis news over the coming years that will result in quantum leaps of worker productivity and thus corporate profits and thus feed the general stock indices inflationary growth spiral.

Implications for Population Growth and Economic Demands

However, one of the pre-requisites of this exponential technological advancement curve which is contrary to 99% of what you probably hear on the internet and the mainstream press's is that human population must also continue to increase because when one compares the two curves, human population growth and technological advancement go hand in hand, history has shown you don't get one without the other, this implies the worlds population growth will be towards the upper end of the various forecast ranges if not beyond and thus have major implications for long-term asset prices such as housing and commodity prices.

Quantum Computers

Nadeem, I wouldn't count on quantum computers contributing to some technological leap in the coming years. Scientists in quantum physics use ideas such as quantum computers to justify their current research in fundamental quantum theory, but this is because of how funding works in science. Quantum physics has and will continue to contribute greatly to technology, but we're talking about advancements in technology, not a complete revolution in the way computers function. We're talking decades before computers based on quantum computation (and not only computers with quantum components) could become useful.

You might be right about big technological advancements coming in the next few years, but I wouldn't invest in quantum computers anytime soon.

Energy or Computing or BOTH?

Thanks Nadeen for hot article.

Finding black hole or Higgs may have some impact on computing speed by targeting resonating this part through "some" new technology.

After proving the existence, it could coem out as source of alternative energy....may be nuclear fission.

(My comments are just based on superficial knowledge about this area)

Might (of) Higgs' Existence

I as an amateur researcher fully agree with Professor Hawking. The reasons for mass and gravity are totally different than Higgs. For example, faster than light Neutrinoes and Higgs both cannot coexist -- either one has to be wrong. It's DCE research and superluminal speed which has the potential of breaking current scientific barriers, rather than finding a nebulous statistical dual peak for a Higgs, which well could be due to many other anomalies, one that LHC could not decipher is that of the UFOs.

However, very kind of Higgs boson to seem to be there to bail out the credibility of LHC and to ensure its secure funding. But at 2.3 ~ 1.9 Sigma? So the yes/no is still held in the clutches of the funding strategy. But surely put your champagne away in the deep freezer! Also, the strategy has to be excellent otherwise they too shall see the funds drying up like it happened with Fermilab. What was the harm in having it running too, in order to do a quick parallel check on everything? Don't we believe in replicating experiments at more than one place? That too when the GeV is well within the Fermilab range.

Population and technology

Mr. Walayat,

".....is that human population must also continue to increase because when one compares the two curves, human population growth and technological advancement go hand in hand, history has shown you don't get one without the other...."

Are we to understand from your article that there is a clear corelation between advances in technology and increases in population? While there may be a somewhat proportionate increase in the number of Physicists, Engineers, etc. is it not more likely that these trends are coincidental? Please expand on your thoughts in this regard.

I admire your work.
