Iraq War - Two lame duck leaders - George Bush and Tony Blair

Politics

Exactly how much damage can the two lame duck leaders of the USA and UK do during their remaining time in office ?

Iraq War - Two lame duck leaders - George Bush and Tony Blair

Both recently gave the same old tired speeches about how failed policies will win the war in Iraq, when the reality is that more UK and US solider's will die and many thousands more Iraqi's whilst they stave off the real tough decisions until after they have left office.

Tony Blair is destined to leave much sooner, sometime during the next 6 months. So Tony Blair's recent speech contained much more bravado, about how little Britain needed to be able to march all of the Kings soldiers up the hill in Iraq and down the hill into Iran if need be ! Easy words as his failed policy and leadership with regards Iraq enters its final stage. Increasingly all the talk is geared to wards pressuring Tony Blair's successor, Gordon Brown to follow his failed policy. Despite the rhetoric from Gordon Brown, it increasingly looks unlikely that Gordon Brown will march down the same route.

Meanwhile on the other side of the Atlantic, the lead partner in the Iraq Fiasco, musters the bag pipers to sing his song to the same old tune, a few more men, a few more men, he says... 21,500 to be precise. Thats 20,000 plus 130,000 = 150,000. Have not more than 150,000 US solider's been deployed in Iraq during the last 3 years ? And were they not drawn down in the lead up to the November elections ? I believe this is a cheap trick being played on the US public, who frankly no longer fall for these falsehoods anymore ! Belatedly I might add, but seriously 20,000 troops is not going to make any difference. It represents the last throw of the dice by a gambler how knows he is destined to lose. Unfortunately it will be american and iraqi lives who will pay the price for the continuing failure in Iraq.

Virtually everything that could be done wrong, WAS done wrong !

The list is endless. From the ashes of Iraq will now emerge an Iranian super state in all but name. This is all of the making of the neo-cons in the White House who fixated by their own arrogance have brought America to another Vietnamesk defeat. Why didn't George Bush listen to Daddy Bush, who knew better ?

As to whether George Bush will get his way is another matter. The democrats have been eager to flex their muscles against a weakened and failure of a presidency that George Bush has become. Not only that, but also many republicans know if they have any chance for re-election they best distance themselves from the President and Iraq pretty quick !

As to what now is the answer to a truly messed up Iraq ?

Re: Iraq War - Two lame duck leaders - George Bush and Tony Blair
Channel 4 television has unveiled details of its new satirical drama in which Prime Minister Tony Blair faces war crimes charges over the Iraq conflict in an imagined, not-too-distant future.

"The Trial of Tony Blair" is set in 2010 and sees Blair (actor Robert Lindsay) on the brink of extradition to a war crimes tribunal, plagued by nightmares about the war and fears that he will be killed by a suicide bomber.

In the programme, to be screened next week, Blair converts to his wife Cherie's faith, Catholicism, in a bid to seek forgiveness for his sins.

"I gather Mr Blair is very concerned about his place in history. This film is my idea of where that place might be. Whether it's fiction or prediction remains to be seen," writer Alistair Beaton said.

"If it contributes to the public perception that Blair has done something wrong and he needs to pay a price for that, that would be terrific."

Meanwhile in the fiction, former US president George W Bush is shown in rehab after being discovered comatose at his ranch.

Any chance this could end up on a DVD for those of us not in UK?

War in Iraq

For countless years young men and women, who naively trusted in their governments, died for all the wrong reasons. While nerd politicians, in their “worn in the backside” suits, made decisions based only fiscal projections, and justified there crimes with statements like: "national security" and " for the good of the country". – Well once again, it's all come to no good. And it’s a sad fact that none of the usurer cowards, that started and perpetuated this particular conflict, will ever be held accountable.

Bush will retire to his ranch and live in opulence, and the hawking Blair will sell his sickening grin to the highest bidder and, no doubt, pocket millions. Meanwhile, their followers and minions will skulk back into the shadows and live in denial until history forgets them.

That's how it's always been. Nothing, including their obvious thievery and the self-evident blood on their hands, will ever be enough to result in any justice for the dead and maimed or any of the families whose lives are, and will remain, irrevocably shattered.
