Barrack Obama Awarded Nobel Peace Prize for Being First Black President
Politics / US Politics Oct 09, 2009 - 10:40 AM GMTThe Nobel committee awarded the peace prize for - "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".
The normal expectation is for someone to be awarded the prestigious Nobel peace prize AFTER they have contributed in a major way towards making peace, which I just do not see when looking back on Barrack Obama's first 10 months Presidency.
Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Barrack Obama who is a breath of fresh air after the lunatic Bush Presidency that systematically proceeded to bring the United States to its knee's. Maybe that is the logic used, i.e. the relief of getting rid of George Bush?
But if even a fan cannot see any logic in the award then what does that say about the Nobel committee that have awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to the WRONG person!
There are far more eligible individuals around the word who actually HAVE contributed towards bringing peace to areas of the World such as :
- Zimbabwe prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai
- Chinese dissident Hu Jia
- Colombian peace-broker Piedad Cordoba
Barrack Obama himself said that he was both pleasantly surprised and puzzled as to why the presumably increasingly senile Nobel committee awarded the peace prize to him, even though he has not done ANYTHING with regards to bringing peace anywhere.
He said he does not "view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments," but rather as a recognition of goals he has set for the United States and the world. Obama said, "I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honoured by this prize."
He said he's accepting the Nobel Peace Prize as "a call to action."
Obama said the Nobel Peace Prize must be "shared by everyone who strives for justice and dignity."
The award for basically doing nothing may in fact politically backfire on Barack Obama in the United States as he is seen as someone in the back pockets of the international socialist establishment against the natural free market instincts of the U.S. electorate.
The Nobel peace prize has been greatly devalued, and it would have been much better to wait for actual effort and results before awarding the prize. Time will tell if the award galvanises the worlds most powerful man into action rather then more sound bites.
