Climate Change, The Environmentalists Have it All Wrong!
Politics / Climate Change Sep 22, 2009 - 12:40 PM GMTHuman's driving climate change through the twin forces of pumping green house gasses into the atmosphere and burning of rain forests is a fact. The temperature continues to rise towards a tipping point when temperatures will accelerate towards a new equilibrium level far beyond current levels.
However tree hugging environmentalists that continue to argue the case for saving the planet's flora and forna from human activity have it all wrong!
The fact of the matter is that it is not EARTH that has to fear climate change but HUMANS, as time and time again climate change driven by both internal biosphere events such as ice ages and external events such as meteorite strikes has resulted in an evolutionary jump where existing dominant species have been wiped out to make way for new species. The Earth's biosphere has always survived climate change with life not just surviving but continuing to cover virtually every inch of the planet.
Therefore the environmentalists instead of preaching about lost plants and animals would be far better served by focusing on the real risk of humans marching towards their own extinction as life on Earth WILL continue after we have gone. THAT IS THE REAL RISK OF CLIMATE CHANGE! For it would take barely a thousand years for the Earth to erase virtually all signs that Human civilisation ever existed.
If we do not do something urgently about climate change then human civilisation is signing its own death warrant and will go the way of the dinosaurs within a hundred years or so where a millennia from now the only signs that we ever existed and walked on the Earth will be our bones.
Whilst the politicians at the United Nations this week will continue to pay lip service to addressing climate change, the battle for human survival will soon be lost!
I don't have the answers and may profit for a few decades or so from the mega-trends of population growth and climate change but beyond that, the future does NOT look so bright.
