Kospi Stock Index Long Term Cycles Remain Bullish / Stock-Markets / South Korea
By: ElliottWaveForecast
The KOSPI Index in the long term has been trending higher with other world indices since inception in 1983. The index began with a base value set at 100 and trended higher until it ended that cycle in 1994. The index then corrected that cycle with the dip into 1998 lows during the Asian Financial Crisis. That is where the monthly chart pictured below begins. From the 1998 lows the index did three bullish swings higher into the November 2007 highs. The pullback from there until October 2008 was strong enough to suggest it was correcting the whole cycle up from the June 1998 lows.

EWY South Korea ETF, Proxy for Global Tech, Probing Key Support / Stock-Markets / South Korea
By: Mike_Paulenoff
Many Street analysts consider the iShares South Korea ETF (EWY) as a proxy for the health of global technology, the semiconductor sector, the chip sector, and perhaps the retail electronics sector as well.
One look at my weekly chart of EWY shows that it has been in the grasp of a major correction or possibly even bear phase since its January all-time high at 79.07 into Tuesday's low at 56.34, a near 30% decline. This decline has retraced two-thirds of of the entire prior advance from the August 2015 low at 42.94 to the January 2018 high at 79.07. One could think that the ugly EWY performance reflected deteriorating relations with North Korea, but, ironically, relations have not been so promising since 1950!

South Korea KOSPI Stock Market Forecast / Stock-Markets / South Korea
By: Manas_Banerji
It looks like that chance of making a new up trend is getting far for Kospi. Last time I was saying that Kospi has a good chance of making medium-term bearish pattern if it breaks levels below around 1940 range and now that fear is more convincing. If this bearish pattern triggers then Kospi may test levels below 1900.

Jon D. Markman writes:
As we get further and further from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan, investors are going to be looking for opportunities to benefit.

South Korean Stocks for Solid Economic Growth and Low Inflation / Stock-Markets / South Korea
By: Martin_Hutchinson
With key countries in the world economy spiraling toward recession, and even India and China panicking about domestic inflation levels, there's one country in particular that still seems to offer good value in its equities markets, thanks to an economic outlook that combines decent growth and only modest inflation.
That country is South Korea.
