The Romney and Netanyahu Brotherhood / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
"Diplomatic distance in public between our nations emboldens Israel’s adversaries." But what Romney DIDN’T SAY was almost as striking — if not more so. Not once did he utter the phrase "peace process" nor the words "Palestine" or "Palestinian," and that also means he never talked about or made the case for a two-state solution. Was the speech for anyone other than base Republicans? This trip to Israel felt like a primary trip, not one aimed at the general election."

Obama Will Win Thanks to the Banana Republicans / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Scott Lazarowitz writes: Michael Rozeff’s post on the Lew Rockwell blog is correct: "Obama Will Win." Rozeff asserts that "Ron Paul was the strongest candidate for the nomination, but the Republicans chose to die instead…"
The so-called conservatives in America who preferred a socialist Big Government Establishment crackpot like Romney will nominate him and sweep Obama to a second term. The Romney supporters will once again put themselves in denial, call Romney a "conservative," a "capitalist" (which he certainly is not!) and pretend that he would actually entertain the thought of cutting budgets, cutting deficits, dealing with the National Debt, dealing with the current failed system of monetary central planning, and so on.

Paul Ryan is No Sarah Palin, a Vice Presidential Candidate With Economic Heft / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Martin Hutchinson writes: Win or lose, the most recent vice-presidential choices never mattered much when it came to the economy.
From Joe Biden to Sarah Palin to John Edwards, none of them were ever known for their grasp of economic policy.

Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan Boon or Bane for U.S. Dollar? / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Good news: Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan may put the focus of the presidential campaign on the sustainability of the U.S. budget. Bad news: Ryan’s plan delivers some tough medicine; if the European experience is any guide, “austerity” makes bad politics. What are the implications for the U.S. dollar?

Romneys Vice Presidential Nominee Paul Ryan to Make Election a Budget War / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
David Zeiler writes: In naming Rep. Paul Ryan, R-WI, as his vice presidential nominee, Mitt Romney ensured that the 2012 election will be mainly about how the country ultimately deals with its massive budget deficits.
Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, made his running mate announcement Saturday morning in Norfolk, VA. The choice of Ryan completes the ticket that will face off against President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in November.

Will the Stock Market’s Direction Determine the U.S. Presidency? / Stock-Markets / US Presidential Election 2012
After the first few months of President Barack Obama’s term in office, I wrote about the carnival rollercoaster the market was riding. Looking at the blue line below, that post may have foreshadowed his tenure! The average of four-year presidential cycles from 1953 through 2008 shows that the S&P 500 Index generally remains flat for almost the first two years, before heading higher in the second half.

Rebuttal To Obama’s Insults / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
This is a bit of a departure from my normal blog about stocks. The stock indices are all in Bernanke’s hands anyway but there is something more important that I want to discuss. Please indulge me.
“Somebody else invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen” - Barack Obama

U.S. Presidential Election 2012 Battling for the Youth Vote / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Ben Gersten writes: In the 2008 presidential election, U.S. President Barack Obama won in no small part due to the "youth vote."
Four years ago, voters under 30 formed about 17% of the electorate and cast twice as many ballots for President Obama as for opponent John McCain. This was in stark contrast to voters over 30 where only half supported the Democratic nominee.

The Obama Defection: Former Supporters Lambaste The President / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
There were two American elections this past week that spoke to the power of incumbency. Despite corruption charges, the venerable Black Democrat Charles Rangel, now in his 80’s, was re-elected to Congress by his Harlem constituency.
Orin Hatch, a cranky conservative Republican beat back a challenge to his Senate seat from harder right Tea Partiers in Utah.

U.S. Presidential Election 2012: President Obama at the Mercy of U.S. Economy / / US Presidential Election 2012
David Zeiler writes: U.S. President Barack Obama's chances for re-election in 2012 are increasingly tied to the fate of the U.S. economy, poll results show.
Meanwhile, presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney hasn't gotten as much benefit from the weak economy as one would expect - a sign of his inability to connect with voters.

Obama and Immigration, The Great Pretender Throws a Bone to his Base / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Barack Obama has the worst record on immigration of any president in US history. No one else comes close. In the last 3 and a half years, Obama has rounded up, detained and deported more than 1.2 million immigrants, roughly 400,000 per year. That’s more than double the number of deportations that took place under his predecessor, George W. Bush, in the same amount of time. Obama also launched the controversial Secure Communities program, which uses local police departments to help federal authorities collect fingerprints so that victims can be watched, harassed, detained, abused and deported more easily by the Gestapo thugs at Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE]. Obama intends to make the program mandatory by 2013.

Election 2012: How Ron Paul Plans to Get What He Really Wants / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
David Zeiler writes: Texas Rep. Ron Paul knows he can't win the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, but that was only part of his end game.
Sure, winning the nomination would have been a plus, but Ron Paul's strategy for years has been to bring his libertarian, anti-debt, anti-inflation views square into the mainstream of American politics.

Romneynomics: What You Can Expect if Mitt Romney Wins the U.S. Presidential Election / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Martin Hutchinson writes: Yesterday I wrote about what to expect if President Obama wins a second term in office. Today it's Mitt Romney's turn.
I'd like to look at Romneynomics - the policies that are likely headed down the pike if the underdog Mitt Romney wins in November.

More Private Jobs are Gained Under Democrat than Republican Presidencies / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
During an election-year clash over which U.S. political party has the best prescription for curing unemployment, Democrats can argue that almost two-thirds of private-sector job growth in the past five decades came with them in the White House.
The BGOV Barometer shows that since Democrat John F. Kennedy took office in January 1961, non-government payrolls in the U.S. swelled by almost 42 million jobs under Democrats, compared with 24 million for Republican presidents, according to Labor Department figures.

Unprecedented U.S. Presidential Posturing / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Last week, responding to President Obama's latest populist assault on the wealthy, I issued a commentary in which I explained why his ideas about American economic history were fundamentally flawed. As dangerous and erroneous as those views are, at least I can cut the President some slack for commenting on a subject in which he really has no basis for expertise. Hailing from academia and local community organizing, Barack Obama likely did not spend huge amounts of time boning up on economic history. However, there are other subjects where he should find firmer footing. Constitutional law certainly comes to mind. After all, Obama rose to national prominence based on his status as a legal scholar. He graduated magna ***** laude from Harvard Law School, where he was elected president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review. He went on to teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School, one of the top ranked schools in the country.

Ron Paul Supporters Beware of the Third Party Trap / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." ~ Albert Einstein
Recently, Justin Raimondo wrote a thoughtful editorial Ron Don’t Let Your Heroic Effort End In Tampa.
I agree with Justin about how the GOP is actually a greater threat to our remaining liberties, wealth and the continuance of perpetual war than even the socialist Democrats.

U.S. Presidential Elections 2012 Money in Politics Campaign Donations Buying Influence / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
As the U.S. election season kicks into high gear, we are going to hear a lot of people talk about "money in politics". They are usually referring to the fact that corporations, industries and their professional lobbying hacks use campaign donations, expenditures and various other monetary tactics to influence the thinking, voting and decision-making of those who are running for or already in public office. That's all a major part of the dysfunction (or non-function) of our "democratic" political system, and we will certainly see this mechanism in full force over the next 7 months.

President Ron Paul. Vice President Mitt Romney 2012 / ElectionOracle / US Presidential Election 2012
Allan Stevo writes: Conservative Americans DO NOT WANT Mitt Romney. That’s pretty darn obvious. He spends a fortune trying to convince voters, gets a generous amount of media time to express his message, and still can’t seem to inspire the Republican base, even when he’s running against the likes of crooked party hacks Santorum and Gingrich, or against that other guy – the Congressman from Texas who seldom gets mentioned in the media. Against opponents like that, the out-of-touch punditry have long expected that Super Tuesday 2012 would be the coronation of Mitt Romney.
