Stock Markets Hit by Waves of Debt Crisis Uncertainty / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: Prieur_du_Plessis

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleAs investors vacillated about the impact of developments in Greece, together with the uncertainty of strong fourth-quarter economic data possibly not carrying over to the first quarter, stock markets experienced two sharp sell-offs and two rebound rallies, limping to small gains on Friday but ending the week modestly down.

Spring is Coming for Energy Climate and Economy / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: Andrew_McKillop

Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleIn a sure sign that winter is ebbing away, global warming "catastrophe" is starting to ooze back in governmental discourse. Meeting in Bali at the end of February, 130 environment ministers and government delegations signalled the coming end of winter in the northern hemisphere, by describing in coded language that the Copenhagen climate summit's farcical conclusion was "only a tactical defeat". They agreed that low-carbon economic growth and green energy are the only future for the oil-soaked, oil-based economies of the world. They more than hinted that global warming change is real and serious. Despite end of winter snow storms in New York, and especially with WTI oil futures very close to $80 a barrel, the return of climate change business as usual is no surprise.

Ignore the Illusion of Economic Spring, Stock Market Crash This Year / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: The_Gold_Report

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleNever mind that fruit trees are blossoming all over the Northern Hemisphere. It doesn't matter that Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania saw his shadow on February 2. We're in for a lot more of a long, harsh Winter—a real whopper in terms of the Kondratieff cycle that the Longwave Group's Ian Gordon has become expert at analyzing and interpreting. In this exclusive interview with The Gold Report, Ian pulls no punches about the dreadful times ahead as economies wring out decade's worth of accumulated debt. The only gleams shining through in his dreary forecast: ample opportunities in precious metals equities.

Where’s the Investing “Big Money” Headed Now? / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: Money_Morning

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis ArticleJon D. Markman writes: The remarkable week that just concluded actually began on February 12, which was two Fridays ago. Stocks plunged in the opening minutes of trading that morning as investors' faith in the global economic recovery was shaken. In China, policymakers again tightened monetary policy in a fight against rapid credit growth and fast rising asset prices. In Europe, which is plagued by concerns over the bailout of deeply indebted Greece, a report showed economic growth slowing dramatically.

The Federal Reserve and Central Banks Announce Exit Plan / Stock-Markets / Financial Markets 2010

By: Anthony_Cherniawski

Best Financial Markets Analysis Article(Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve’s decision to raise its discount rate shows that the global recovery is on track and other central banks can afford to keep withdrawing emergency measures, former policy makers and economists said.

The Fed yesterday raised the rate charged to banks for direct loans by a quarter-point to 0.75 percent, the first increase since June 2006. The Fed said it was a “normalization” of lending that wouldn’t affect monetary policy, and the main federal funds rate would remain low for an “extended period.”

Diamond Rated - Best Financial Markets Analysis Article"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value ZERO" - Voltaire 1729

The greatest hoax and fraud in history perpetrated by public serpents, crony capitalists and their central bank and bankster masters continues to fall to its demise. Ever since Breton Woods ii changed semi-sound money into iou's and promises to pay, this inevitable moment has loomed large. As Ponzi finance fails, so do all the investments which underpin it. This is the greatest reversion in asset prices, mal-investments, to their real values -- reflecting their ability to produce wealth rather than the constant debasement of the currency in which they are denominated.
