Food Tech Startups Aim To Provide Healthy Tailor Made Meals

Companies / Retail Sector Aug 22, 2021 - 06:21 PM GMT

Companies The majority of consumers in the US and Europe want better information about food they eat, from the quality and origin of ingredients to their environmental impact according to a report from Betway. Companies are now working to increase consumer confidence in the food system by utilizing blockchain to improve transparency throughout the food chain. Its platform allows food companies to track batches and check them in real time as they move through the chain.

The food tech industry is expanding rapidly with the emergence and development of verticals such as food and grocery deliveries, personal cooking boxes, on-demand meal delivery, and these verticals are becoming more popular by the day. The combination of product traceability, end-to-customer support and innovative sales models is what makes the technology possible. We believe we can create a new food culture by combining our technology with start-ups to develop new concepts in food technology.

This article highlights some food tech startups that are disrupting the food industry. Over the steps, we will discover startups disrupting the agricultural industry.

1. The Verdify team in the Netherlands is working to address these two challenges with a platform that uses artificial intelligence to help people identify recipes and adapt them to their dietary needs without restrictions such as food allergies or vegan or vegetarian diets. Verdify believes that more information and control for consumers on the design of foods that meet their nutritional needs will make them more consumer-friendly.

2. Territory Foods recently raised $2.2 million in funding for a food delivery service that enables consumers to tailor their diet to their preferences. Territory Foods provides its healthy meals directly to customers by a decentralized back-end marketplace and works with local chefs in the community to serve its customers.

3. I was inspired by Good Go's approach to tackling the massive undertaking of food waste. The fact that a third of all food produced worldwide is wasted and is responsible for 8% of greenhouse gas emissions is outrageous. We need more startups like this to tackle the huge amounts of food wastage.

4. Collectiv Food is the next generation of food delivery companies and restaurants with a mission to transform the way food is sourced and distributed in cities. They envision leading a transition towards a fair, transparent, and sustainable food supply chain. The grocery store and restaurants are currently opaque and full of logistical inefficiencies; it hopes to tackle the problem with the currents supply chain.

Conclusion

As home diagnostic kits become increasingly popular as consumers seek to better understand their physical health, more and more companies are taking advantage of the trend to offer personalized nutrition services.  Eating less meat is the easiest way to reduce people's carbon footprint, start-ups are the key to the future sustainability. Startups promoting these services aim to provide tailor-made nutritional insights based on characteristics such as genetic makeup, microbiome, and user immune response.  Let us know about your thoughts in your comment box.
