Is Apple Old iPhone's Stealth Slow Down IOS Update a SCAM?
Companies / Apple Dec 21, 2017 - 04:35 PM GMTTechnology expert John Poole has forced Apple to come clean on the real secret behind Apples marketing and sales success, of why customers are so eager to upgrade to the latest iPhone model, and the answer may surprise you!
Apparently what Apple has been doing for at least a year and probably for more than 5 years is to SLOW DOWN the operation of Older iPhone's via IOS software updates. Which has the effect of encouraging older phone owners to UPGRADE to the latest model. This way the consumers have no real world first hand experience to compare the speed and performance between an Old iphone and a New i-phone!
Of course Apple has an readt prepared excuse for their antics, which is apparently that they SLOW down older models so as to put less strain on the ageing lithium-ion batteries that degrade in performance over time.
At this rate Apple could just as well cut its research budget on innovating and sell the same phones with a few minor tweaks each year, relying on comparisons against older SLOWED down phones for speed and performance boosts comparisons!
I don't know about you but to me this smells like a scam that encourages customers upgrade from what should be perfectly fine for several more years iphone's. Imagine if your TV did the same? That over time the picture quality would degrade so as to encourage you to upgrade, of course you would be outraged at such behaviour as customers should also be in respect of Apple's antics! This puts a huge question mark over whether to buy an Apple product or not!
As for owners of older iphone's such as the iphone 6 then the way to avoid the dreaded slowdown is NOT to update your IOS software. Whilst the smart thing for Apple to do is to make phones with a larger battery capacity so that they don't need to be put into senile mode.
And if you have a battery problem then just change the battery, which is possible even though i-phones have built in batteries. Rather than paying at least $1000 for a new iPhone X!
